Again heavy traffic on the A27 towards Chichester in the morning ::)
Filtered to the head of a half-mile tailback to find 2 HGV nutters duelling it out
One of the wagons was a tanker, creeping so slowly past MR ASDA & he wasn`t lettin up >:(
Always seems so pointless, 10 mins to overtake WHY ???
-
And illegal, surely?
Ron.

Not illegal, but a consequence of firms fitting vehicles with speed limiters below the legal limit of 56...
Ignoring the fact that on dual carriageway roads the trucks are legally obliged to be doing 50 :-X
If you travel that road regularly you know that both Hampshire and Sussex patrol it and that there are often camera vans on any one of the bridges. Also, there's often a ten minute queue to join the Terminus Rd roundabout when you hit Chichester.
Unless you normally travel that stretch at a ton plus, the five minutes difference the trucks make to your journey is irrelevant. And it isn't like there are several alternative routes get from Cosham to Chichester in a car... :-X

Not anymore Al. The speed limits for HGV's have been raised from 40mph to 50mph on single carriageways and from 50mph to 60mph on duel carriageways. ;)

Every morning on the M1. Every, single, morning.
Makes me wish I had James Bond style rocket launchers fitted to the car >:(

Try going east on the M62 towards Halifax etc from Rochdale. Not just 2 dualling HGVs but 3 side by side all fighting it out up the hill leaving just lane 4 for mere mortals in cars 😠

Fair dos, but a moot point with 56mph limiters ::) alot of supermarket stuff is stuck at 50-52 'to save fuel' making them slow enough to catch up, but almost too quick to pass... if you were driving the tanker and had been stuck behind the Asda truck, you would probably have given up and pulled round it... I know I would :-X

I've been on that stretch of motorway and had that situation many times. Too many lorries, and too little Tarmac! :(

It's the same situation on all 'all lane running' motorways to be honest, right up to the point where they slow you down to 40MPH on 'managed' motorways for 20 miles because three junctions ahead there's two cars waiting at the top of the slip road to join the island. Only country in the World where a bunch of do-gooding self-abusers can approve four lane use, spend billions on gantry signs then make the whole bloody motorway run at half the speed it used too before they started.
