Google/Wiki do not help, only confuse, because their solutions do not work: I have WAY too many bookmarks in Firefox (who hasn't?) and I want to delete several of them en bloc, selecting them all in one go and transferring them to a folder to archive them.
Yep, having my cake and eating it!

You really are a glutton for punishment Ron lad. :P

True, but all those bookmarks seem to be slowing the computer down and making Firefox crash or at least go "Not Responding" and if I offload most of my little-used bookmarks it won't have any excuse for sulking!

switch to chrome it will prompt to transfer all your firefox book marks then you can manage them with a non amateur browser. also won't crash due to too many bookmarks.

Installed Chrome, but it wouldn't let me do anything as I'm still on Windows XP.
Yes, I KNOW I need to upgrade, but I cannot afford to give my Omega presents (radiator, wishbones, new tyres, etc.) AND get a new computer, so Omega wins!

Bookmarks are a very sensible quick reference filing system, so you can quickly reference articles, especially more obscure expert ones that search engines have a habit of downgrading their positions or losing completely from their results when you need them again. :( :( :(
Search engines are fine for people who are only interested in Swedish celebs, sweet-smelling pieces of wood and the Kardashians as they will always be on the first page of the results where their fans search for them so often and click the links to the relevant websites. :P :P :P

Just checking this PC to see if any installed browser has any bookmarks (beyond what the browser vendor chucks in)... ...not looking like I have ;D
And, no, I do not follow celebrity culture, hence half the time when somebody snuffs it, I have no idea who people are talking about.

Google for sure (and probably any other search engines that are left) order their results based on what your pc has been looking at before. so maybe another user of your pc is interested in those sites. or maybe it is you ;)
