Title: The end of Holden
Post by: Tony H on 21 October 2017, 20:58:14
Yesterday saw the last car roll off the Holden line in Australia as the plant is due for closure. A sad day for the workers and the lovers of "muscle cars"  :'(

The brand will live on as disguised Daewoo's!  ;)

Maybe Uncle STEMO will emigrate, as I'm sure he misses his Daewoo.  :-\   :)

I’m afraid it’s the first of many. There seems to be no place in the world for pollution belching cars any more.
Oh...and Tigger......think of all the children.  :'(

Most of their power comes from coal fired power stations. As coal is abundant in Australia and cheaply mined via open cast mining, there has been little incentive to clean up their act.  ::)

Add to that, a lot of the cars there have gas guzzling V6 and V8 motors.  ;)

It's actually really bizarre, their treasurer has even taken a lump of coal into parliament and waved it around during the debates  ::). They're rather keen on the stuff.

They seem to have got the worst of all worlds with the tree hugging renewables giving them the most expensive electricity in the world with frequent grid collapsing power cuts and coal power station spewing out all that radioactive particle, arsenic-sulfur-laden CO2 goodness from their power stations. :o :o :o
