Hypothetical question.
If a vehicle has been dealer serviced all its life, could I go into any dealer (for that type of vehicle) and ask about the service history from registration number and VIN? Specifically to talk about what needs doing next and price.

A lot of them now use online systems, so I don't see why not......as long as they thought they were getting the business, they should be happy to help.

Depends, often it would have to be same franchise. Not sure what setup in Spain is :-\
I had to go VW directly to get service history, as my local had nothing on it.

That is what I thought. A couple of cars we looked at the trader had the service details up on screen. Might have been a "dump". Otherwise as tunnie says I could go to the manufacturer.

Mercedes do, but certainly official servicing gets stored with chassis number on a central database by each manufacturer, probably for warranty purposes if nowt else. Should be a simple phonecall or at most an email :y

Went and looked at a car this morning on way to malaga airport. Only three years old and 45k miles. Same price as year older cars with twice mileage. Mrs V quickly spotted respray though panels looked a good fit. No service history because “we bought it at an auction” No mot history till they start at 4 years of age.
The hunt continues.....

E Class... The two in the links any good for looking purposes :-\

I tried doing this with my first Omega to find out if the cambelt was due. They said they couldn't legally give me any info due to the data protection act. ???
They might have just not like the look of me though. ;D

Yrs. before leaving i had a look for any local. Not a lot.
Also had a search for more local to Svarborough. Found a couple at Tadcaster but i think they are in York. Might only get chance to view on way back to airport next Wed.

I took a guess as to your landing point :D

I tried that with my first Plod Omega... The response from Devon and Cornwall was that "We admit to having owned it, but only because we're named on the V5" ::)

MB of Boston gave me a complete print out of my vehicle history when I asked them , when I took it in for an oil change & health check, right from dealership in Yorkshire when it was new to London dealership even though I had every receipt in a ring binder always wise to double check.

My Dad had my CD before me and while the books were stamped and the work was always done he never kept any old invoices or MOT certificates, when I took over the cars care I went to the local VX dealer (Underwoods of Tiptree) and while they couldn’t provide duplicate invoices they gave me a nice fat print out of all the work the car had prior to my stewardship and I’ve now got a second VX service folder full of every invoice for every job since.

Always great to have a comprehensive service history makes it easier to continue regular maintenance & should you ever consider selling is a big plus point, which I have found in the past.
