Title: 3.2 MV6 in interesting colour
Post by: Viral_Jim on 26 October 2017, 16:32:59
As usual, not my car, nor anyone I know and probably bobbins in every way, but may be of interest to some.

Also not a colour I've ever seen before. I like it  8)

I didn't see this the first time it was listed so I don't know the price the "timewaster" went to.It was then re-listed a week or two ago as a classified ad with a price of £975 o.no. Obviously it didn't sell at this and so has been re-listed again as an auction item.

Hmmm, why would he think it necessary after a full engine rebuild to mention the cambelt??? I would have thought that was a given. :-\ :-\ :-\

Having read the ad carefully, I think this is the guy from Scunny who recently bought my TD Estate. :y

Robert is correct on this I think.  My kit car is polar sea blue and that's got much less green in it (almost a bit of purple in it but not quite). Nevertheless, very nice!

Write up says green metallic if that helps ....  :)

What is that strange circular "thing" where the air filter SHOULD be .......   :)  :)

This car has been on Face ache for a few weeks,I have met the guy and had a deal with him for some leather MV6 seats. He seemed a genuine sort of a guy and it appears that he just does a bit of wheeling and dealing in Omegas and their spares.I got the impression that he's quite knowledgable about the cars and I must admit that I keep looking at the car and thinking......but only thinking! ::)

I say that as I had a couple of Polar Sea Blues, ‘96 & ‘99 Elites .........

Yes, knows Omegas quite well, he liked my TD so much he kept it and took all the new suspension off to lower it. :D

My 2002 3.2 Elite saloon is that colour - definitely Petrol Blue. As said, a rare and unusual shade for an Elite.

Well that's be chavv'd up way to much, why on earth do people think it's a good idea to tint rear lights. The primary purpose of which is make you be seen.

They are tinted at the factory on some Opel models so meet type approval (I have a pair of brand new ones for the wing mounted clusters but am struggling to find the boot mounted ones). aftermarket tint spraying though is usually to dark and restrictive.

There was a chap down Hastings way with a silver saloon on which he had spray tinted the rear lights..

Happened to drive past his house one wet and windy night after dropping a Network Rail chap home from a depot in Lundun...

The car was effectively invisible from behind, only the number plate returning any light... :o

Only 40bhp huh? Guess it would have been 10-20 more if only they'd remembered to paint it yellow  ;D

They must've run out of silver when this was built ...... I thought ALL early 2000 Omegas were silver   ;)

From an ex VAG owner, that made me chuckle ;D. Many VAGs, particularly VWs, are shipped from the factory with indicators that are nigh on invisible in daylight when the brake lights are on...  ...then charge a premium to the few owners who actually use them for those equally daft animated indicators as an optional upgrade.

Useful, those animated indicators, for when you want to identify complete Onanists on the road. ;)

That's assuming they use them at all, of course. ::)

I liked my CC's rear light clusters, not the usual bland design.

I quite like VAGs animated indicators   :-[ They do help them stand out from the bright led brake lights.
Another variation I've seen on a newish Golf was that the two strips of amber leds alternated with each other .... I assume a mod rather than a VW option.

They look a bit silly as hazard warning lights, though.

It's z20M petrol blue.  Identical to mine. Took me 12 months to find a door in a scrap yard the right colour, (and 15 minutes to swap it).  Wheels are weird, and WHY the stupid air filter?

Ad says it's on Elite wheels but from the pictures they look nothing like the wheels on my Elite. Why would a 3.2 have needed an engine re-build? I'd have thought it would breeze 120,000 odd miles without needing one?
Title: Re: 3.2 MV6 in interesting colour

Depends on your definition of a rebuild I guess. The ad is hardly specific about what was done, beyond the timing belt

Perhaps the timing belt failing was the cause of the engine "rebuild" becoming necessary  ::)

Ad says its "on Elite wheels with good tyres "   guessing seller has renoved the aftermarket alloys in the ad pics :-\

Looks like Astra wheels so offset will be wrong.

On the genuine tinted lights it's only the white section that is tinted, the red is as normal - this one clearly has spray tint over the whole lense.

This car was for sale some time ago for nearly £2k by different owner
I was interesting in it at the time but was in convinced time scale
So I left,  few months later saw car sold for less then £1k with transmission issue,
well is long story and with my broken english  :D I will stop here ;D
