Title: Images server outage

Our external host where our images are hosted have informed us that they will be upgrading their servers in the next 24hrs.

You may nothing images not displaying during this time, which is expected to last 2hrs.

We apologise for any inconvenience.

No, they were upgrading the OS from the Worlds Worst Linux Distro (Ubuntu 12) to the Worlds Second Worse Linux Distro (Ubuntu 14), which they had completed by midnight :)


(Needless to say, the main OOF stuff does NOT use Ubuntu ;D)

Given a choice, I'd run real Unix. But I'm not rich enough ;D

 ;D ;D SCO & DEC were my first exposures to real Unix.. but nobody would be mad enough to run those at home, I'm sure! (That was in my first *nix related job)

FreeBSD or OpenBSD are both great choices for reliability now, though, IMHO. As long as the reliability>hardware support works in your favour.

Real men run Gentoo and compile from source.

Deep down, I have a soft spot for Solaris. Riduculously stable, even under low resource conditions
