Normally I shop around.
Original quote came in at £398, but when they agreed to drop the figure to £306 I thought the cost reasonable.
Admiral for the 2nd year running. My guess is next year they will 'load' the policy and hope I don't notice.........but I will. :D
-
Certainly always worth contacting for a better price :y

Don't SAGA give the best deals for senior citizens? :)

I've used them in the past but after 2 years the cost suddenly doubled. Time to move.
........and who are you calling a senior citizen you young whippersnapper. :P :P :P :P :P

Saga are the same as any other insurance company. Given half a chance, they’ll take the piss.
-
Had one of mine with Saga a couple of years ago, come renewal time price rocketed so cancelled that off after looking round and went to AA this year their price rocketed shopped around and cheapest was Saga at less than I paid two years ago!

I don't believe I called you or anyone a senior citizen, just asked if they give good deals. ;)
After all I may be in need of senior citizen services one day..... if I get that far! ;D

I change every year, if necessary. I’ve never got a good deal from a comparison site, though. The only thing thing they’re good for is spam for a month after you use them.
-
And don't forget to look at cashback sites, insurance companies invariably offer the best cashback. :y
-
Just renewed mine £530, about 30 quid cheaper than last year, did do a ring around nobody else could get anywhere near that price.
-
The mighty Signum was £160 last year not sure what it will be come renewal time.
-
That’s not bad. I’m with Admiral as well, going from the Mondeo to the XC60 only cost another £24 a year. Still both slightly more than yours, but it’s difficult to compare given all the variables around with insurance.
-
I,m a bit stuck on shopping around as the Desmond is Cat C and some companies don,t like them. Though when Saga raised the premium this year i phoned them up and they put it down again. Wonder if i,ll get away with it again? :D
-
Which reminds me. I must get my screen replaced courtesy of Saga (no excess with them) before my insurance runs out next month.
-
Had the renewal for the Zaf come in at £407. My company always say to use the comparison sites if not happy. did that and the meercats came up with £207 with esure and the fat singer was £197 with RIAS after specing it to my existing. My company then came back with £196, so back with them

.
But be warned, after you've been on cashback, go to the insurance site and re-do it as cashback is more often added, so not as good a price.
Eg top cashback £350.
Hastings £302. same cover same insurance.

Quite true, homework is required, but I usually manage to save a fair bit. Utilities are another example, I usually swap every year for a nice handout. :y
Also remember, if you have already checked out an insurance/utilities/W.H.Y. site, clear your cookie cache before using a cashback site for the same company. I have found that, if cookies are not cleared, the purchase may not be recognised as having gone through the cashback site. :y

Yep, I always use two different Browsers for that sort of thing, Browser 1 for searching, getting prices of stuff I need, then Browser 2 via TCB or Quidco, never had a problem with tracking that way. :y
Ebay is typical of that, just about to buy, then think, remember, ah, I use TCB, find it rarely tracks on the same browser / cookies.

Got my renewal through for my Mini with Lancaster (Classic Insurance) their renewal was £285 with limited mileage of 5000 per year, did a comparison with the Meerkats and got it to £225 with RAC. Rang Lancaster and they gave me an even better quote of £150, same policy just a cheaper price.... I will admit I snatched their hand off... I was going to SORN it and take it off the road as I dont use it much over winter. I was enquiring about lay away insurance, but that would have been £130 for the year... was a no brainer really, so keeping it legal for the road if I need it...
The V70 insurance last year was almost £1000 (£987), this renewal came down to £450.... I have no idea as to why its cheaper suddenly. The only thing I can think of is my wife is due to turn 40 (she is on both policies) and that has affected the insurances...
