Title: Another mass shooting
Post by: BazaJT on 06 November 2017, 19:09:38
So there's been another mass shooting in America with the gunman firing on a church congregation. They're saying the perpetrator had mental issues, but as he is also dead there's probably no way of finding out the reason behind the attack.

While the gun laws in the States are as they are it,s always likely to be a recurring theme. :(

That's only half the story.

If you are going to push many types of mental health patients back out into the real world, you have to find a way to ensure they take their medication.

But the hero, was the guy that had his rife in his pick-up, and lossed.  Couple at the guy.
NRA will lap that up saying if we get gun control that good ol boy, wouldn't have been able to do the right thing.

I just turn off. Sick of UK news dominated by primitives from the USA. The solution is fairly obvious. More spending on mental health, guns are NOT the problem.

With respect, Mr. Varche, guns ARE the problem; if they didn't have guns, thay couldn't shoot anyone. Simplistic, but true.

What you are missing is the fact that almost all gun crime here is a) largely unreported and b) between groups of ne'erdowells.

So carry on jibing at the American dream for its shortcomings, but be grateful that your quiet corner of Suffolk isn't a hot bed of drug related gang violence ;)

Where’s here?

The UK.

And when I say largely unreported, I mean out side of Lundun. People get shot and stabbed on almost daily basis in the less salubrious parts of the UK and no one so much as blinks... Yet a mentally ill person, who was presumably sane when he obtained a fire arm shoots up a church and all hell breaks loose... ::)

Quite a large drug problem in Ipswich, gangs coming in from Lunnon.

Watched Trump on Channel 4 news ::) "it`s not a gun problem, the guy had mental issues".
Channel hopped to World News Today BBC 4, Ex FBI pundit, "it`s not guns that kill ppl, it`s the the person pulling the trigger".
Now if I were living in Texas, to protect my family; I`d be nipping down to Walmart & panic buying Ammo  ;)

I don’t know where you’re getting your information from, but it’s arse about face. If a gun is used in any part of Yorkshire, it certainly makes the news. The same in Merseyside or Manchester.
It’s the cesspool of London where gun crime is a daily occurrence, mixed with acid attacks these days. And most of it is not the indigenous population.

Exactly...

In Lundun it is basically background noise... Out in the boonies, it's newsworthy.

Another nutter with a gun in a country full of both shouldn't be the surprise that the media keep insisting.

TBH, after Sandy Hook, when America, as a nation decided that the deaths of 20 children were acceptable as the price of doing business, I lost all sympathy, and frankly, interest.

No politician would get near a position of meaningful power on a gun control and/or universal healthcare ticket, so you have to say, that, as a nation, the US has democratically decided that these mass shootings are acceptable events.

Nothing will change out there, fed up with hearing about it all very sad for the families affected  but it will be something else in the news soon.

I wonder how long before a group, representing the shot dead, take out a class action. In this case it would appear that iff someone had done their job properly and recorded a black mark against the shoters name he wouldn't have been able to legally buy the guns. Same as the baby killed in the Uk by adopted parent despite having a history.

Your second part illustrates the problem. Bit like countries arming themselves to the teath to "protect themselves" from a similarly armed to the teath country.
