omega currently on 132k mv6 facelift.
seen as std mv6 shocks are no longer available what the closest you can buy in terms of firmness and and overall package.
sachs (original brand for omega i think) £280 for all four shocks
bilstein b4 (have used rears on other omegas and seemed quite good but are sachs better) £185
meyle (big german brand and known anyone used them) £173
what would be closest to standard mv6 shocks price not issue more how good shock is .. dont really want to go for something like a b6 bilstein or koni yellow as i think make it overly stiff
-
B4's are about the closest to original MV6, it's all down to preference. I would find these too firm myself and would probably go Sachs.
-
B4s were almost indistinguishable from my original MV6 shocks when I changed them, so you could infer from that that they are equivalent to worn MV6 shocks. I don't see how anyone could think they are too firm unless you like driving a water bed. ;)

Got fatty admin's old Elite shocks on front of my 3.2, think they had done 60/70k when fitted? So at 100k now and errrr 15 years old. ;D
Rears are standard suspension GM shocks, 5 years old.
Just hope my water bed suspension setup does not spring a leak, as I find it rides spot on for my liking right now. :)

Fitted B,4s to the back of my 3.2 Elite and after less than 500 miles took them off and replaced them with Sachs.
Personal preference, but found the B4,s quite harsh....the Sachs have now been on for several 1000 miles and am pleased with them...B4,s still in original box back in the shed

That's good to know I'm not alone in my thoughts :y

Sachs going on mine as oe replacements :y
-
B4 are a straight replacement for a standard shock. Anyone who claims they are firmer just hasn't realised how bad their old shocks were ;)
B6 if you want firmer, sportier shocks from the Bilstein range.
I have found that B4s do seem to be more durable than GM ones, but otherwise no different (comparing new for new).

No complaints with B4's here, plus they can handle lowering springs.
-
so what do you make of that? :y

I need to look at what to buy for the back of TBE, which looks to be sat low at the back again. Admittedly, due to weather, the petrol tank is unusually full, but even so...
Currently B4, and have had a hard life, covering probably 80-100k on the Bullet, before swapping them over last year when TBE's Irmscher shocks gave up the ghost.
Probably need to check the springs as well, also off the Bullet, swapped at same time to replace the crap Irmscher ones. I don't think they would have snapped, as not that old IIRC... ...but did come from euroshite, so who knows if they really are Sachs ;D

I'm going to give this place a try if I change my shocks in the future.

£80 a pair for B4,s rear. £113 a pair for B4,s front.

Replaced all my shocks for B4's about 3 years ago.If anything, I find the B4's a littler softer then OEM Mv6 shocks.
Then again, I always was a little weird :P ;D
-
B4s on mine and the ride is totally acceptable. If they seem rather stiff compared to what you're used to then remember you're changing the old ones because they're knackered and we acclimatise to "normal" very easily over a long period of time. A harsh ride would be caused by cheap nasty lowering springs, B6 or above and 17" or bigger wheels. I've seen it and wondered why the owner didn't just buy an Audi if he wanted rubbish ride quality.

Cheap
