Title: New exhaust
Post by: Pmacca2000 on 24 December 2017, 00:28:57
I’ve noticed that the new back box on my exhaust is cylindrical and the old standard one was rectangular, any reason for the change?

Things change.  Probably slightly cheaper to fabricate.

The clamshell design requires bespoke dies and an enormous press to form the two halves.

A cylinder doesn't require vehicle specific tooling. - the manufacturer can probably use the same part on half the systems they make.

All my gm systems were clam shell, centre, and rectangular rears.

Pattern, systems clam shell centre, round rears.

Must be a slow day.
