Very nice car ..But a real gas guzzler..And parts are astronomical..

Just seen in friends shop one changed front ventilated discs..  :o

In my idea , stay far away !

Cracking body work lovly car, but more than basic issues with engine and box.

Lovely :y

I've driven a mates 540 with the 4.4 lump in it....   can it move, can it just ;)

As said earlier, heavy on motion lotion... but, we only pass this way once, if you can afford it...  buy it, drive it, enjoy it :y :y :y

My brother had a 1998 540 v8, think it was the 4.4.  Went pretty well, not massively quick, but no slowcoach either.  Obviously a big heavy car with a big engine up front will hurt economy, but it has a decent sized tank for decent range.

the sort of thing ill be looking replace my elite with in 5 or so years time, when there are no more migs left. A massive spec exec car, if you can find a low mileage one in couple of years time then maybe, but for me that particlar one has to may miles, trouble is half that mileage will be double the price. Doh! Also a mate has a bmw 350d touring, its getting to about 120k now, things just starting to go wrong, he says the forum is full of posts of stuff wearing out after that magic number!

How much? I'd better not show it my brother. He's recently bought a new-ish 3 litre diesel 7 series, he has his own plate on so I don't exactly know how old. he paid £46000!

Tidy car.   :y

Seem to recognise the background/picture style though....

What was the Michael E. Mouse company that were punting duffer Omegas some months ago with exorbitant maintenance and condition claims??

Hmm... I'd take off my rose tints and realise why it was selling for  what the wheels and tyres option cost. ;)
Sorry I don't mean to offend , but it's ugly too..........

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the 7series either (nor any modern BMW) looks bloated to me. Give me a mid-80's 7 series (or better still an M635CSi :-*) any day.

I'm with you on that one Kevin. At the weekend I was with the chap who viewed and secured this one over here .He told me it was a stunning example.

seems to cheap I would be wary, even at that mileage still books at 9grand private, approx 12-3 trade, somthing not right.

I agree with this :) I can't see why it's half the price it should be, I was half expecting to see a caved-in sill or something.

Re mileage, that is not too much of a problem providing it's been regularly and well serviced at BMW. Servicing sometimes can't hide a difficult life though and personally, I would be very careful indeed - particularly as parts are horrific and labour costs for BMW-only items are orbital!

Older shape looks 100 times more pleasing (IMHO of course), and A 540 manual e39 would be a treat for me, or an old-school M5 :P

There back to that after an exact 12 month hibernation.

The feedback is " intresting" and now at around 94%

I thought this car looked too damn good a buy for £5,500! :o :o

Great pity really as I love it, but I think even if I had that kind of money spare I would walk run away from this one!! :D ;)
