Title: MV6 Front suspension top mount
Post by: Muroman on 24 January 2018, 13:03:47
Simply, Why the huge cap between top of strut and arch?

I got information that since A-omega the top mounts have been the same but can there be differences?

Looks like the suspension top mount bush is knackered and the middle has pushed through. There should be no gap there.

Not strictly true...

Gap of 3-6mm considered normal, gap of over 15mm is not.

Item 9 in this picture :

https://opel.7zap.com/en/car/v94/k/0/6-1/

The lower strut washer (Item 17) may be punched through by the shock absorber strut too (LC's have a habit of doing that).

Yes they are the same part as on Carlton/Senator/Omega A. The early pre facelift Carlton/Senator/Omega A's with the heavier C30NE engine used different, different (stiffer?) top mounts (P/N 90251358). The later cars all used P/N 90288206. Both parts look physically the same and will fit in place of each other. Looks like early Omegas B's also used the 90251358, but later ones used 90288206.

VX-90251358 = OP-3-44-511
VX-90288206 = OP-3-44-512

Pays yer money and takes you choice. Loads of options on eBay from £10 - £100.

Went with Sachs on my new struts for the Desmond... But Pedders heavy duty Monaro ones are a sound choice for the V6 :y

I'm not sure is it my English or something else but what you mean by LC?

Is it this we are talking as pedders strut (5851 Strut Mount)?

No, LC = Lotus Carlton, or LO = Lotus Omega for those with the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. ;)

That's the correct heavy duty mounting. One of a handful of parts common to both vehicles

YESSS :D :y

It was the strut mount.

The arrows shows one main reason, that metal part comes longer downwards on the old one so the washer will only press the metal part up and will not hit the rubber itself.
In the new one the washer will press evenly the rubber and the metal part.
