Not sure the G-Wagon has a purpose.

Mainly used for posing in Chelsea, I imagine. :)

An original one compares well to an early diesel Discovery. if you can stomach the horrendous prices, and that rust is an even bigger problem. The latest ones with modern Merc engines and electronics are toys like modern Range Rovers.

There was a bi-turbo G Wagon in the Merc dealer I use. It was £140k  :o :o
I asked if they sold many ..... apparently they do  ??? No idea why anyone would want one.

They can shift though https://m.youtube.com/watch?t=282s&v=qo_tP-5M1zg both solo & towing  ;D ;D

We had an early one at work. Had a 3L natasp diesel in it, IIRC.  Had the aerodynamics of a sub-post office, the refinement of a tractor, it was seriously slow, drank like George best and the one time we took it off road it sank to its axles with no provocation whatsoever. Apart from that, it was great. I can see why all the fashion victims want one. ::)

This one looked standard not chavved up, no price as it was awaiting preparation but probably well out of his price range, salesman told me 2 owners MB & a local farmer who has had them for years .

I encountered one on the M1 being driven like a complete <adjective> .. sadly in a head to head with the Skoda he was a lot, lot faster than me  ;D Pretty sure he'd have walked away from the 650i, too.

G-Wagons have always seemed to me to be a complete rip off of the Land Rover Defender.  ::)

Just a lot more comfortable and reliable!  ;D

Yep, even the Germans can't "improve" on a Defender in that respect. ;D
