Noticed some dreaded rust on rear wheel arch!  :(

Get a bodyshop to check it before it gets to point of cutting and replacing bits

Wheel arches are not the concern, it’s the sills as they are hidden...

Mine: http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=141379.0 (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=141379.0)

I had mine fixed by Serek for a very reasonable price  :y

Everywhere underneath on an Omega needs regular inspection and love, not just sills.

Wheel arches need catching early, as its harder (more expensive) to cut bits out and weld new in, due to finishing work.

Yeah, the front subframe area is getting some attention this summer.

The wheel arches are more cosmetic though, so in my view not as critical.

My 3.2 arches are fine, it’s only hidden places suffering.

It's too late for that if it's already visible

I need to have a good look round it. It needs a wash first. I have put a lot of cash into fixing body on my other car, but at least it has an investment value. The Omega is my everyday workhorse.

Got the car back from body shop yesterday. Corrosion on wheel arch sorted and dings, scratches elsewhere done at same time, while we were on holiday. Looks good now.  :y

Front chassis legs / subframe mount area is the biggest concern as it puts it in write off unviable territory

Thanks. I will check that.

It's at least 10 years to late to do any good, but remove the black plastic covers inside the wheelarches at the rear of the sills. If you're lucky they'll be full of soggy mud. Holes are much more likely, and it's where several panels join(including the seatbelt mount) so a good repair is a lot of work

This was lurking behind the O/S cover and muck on mine:

With the rot cut out, I could see inside the sill, and the holes that are in it.

The other side isn't any better, just a bit more hidden.

Your not meant to remove the vauxhall factory fit rust hole covers  ;D
or the sill covers that hide all the holes in the outer sills  :D
now your going to have to get the sparky gun out  :P
