My 2003 facelift estate has been parked up on-street for over a week. Today I found the nearside rear foot-well full of water. 2 inches or so. Is there a drain hole somewhere that's blocked?
No sign of any water in the offside foot-wells or the front nearside. But the road does have a camber so the car wasn't level.
I had a look at the scuttle anyway. Of course, it was half full of water. The bottom third of the carbon filter is soaked. Luckily I have a new one handy. Drain hole blocked by tree flowers that had made a nice sponge mass.
So why was the rear footwell full of water? There's nothing in the boot area. If it was the sunroof I would expect the seats to be wet, but they seem OK. The door seals look OK and the windows were all fully closed. The door itself seems dry.
Any ideas? Thanks,

That happened to me some time back - same cause, blocked skuttle drain - but my car is parked on a sloping driveway, so the water ran all the way to the rear footwell before it stopped.
Is the front nearside carpet even damp? Try lifting it.

You are of course correct, There was a slight slope front to rear. And the carpets have mats. When I removed the front nearside mat which appeared bone dry I could see that water had been running underneath by the door.

Best you can do is lift the carpet as well as you can & support it to allow it to dry. Hopefully this nice weather will dry it out. Not saying complete removal is impossible, but involves removal of both seats ..... ???
The grommet at the bottom of the filter housing needs frequently checking for being blocked, especially in autumn when all the sycamore spinners fall.

So do I, since it's such a pain to replace. And it's a good one from a pre-facelift CDX.
I haven't tried the heater blower yet?
I'm letting the car dry out as much as possible first?

Lift the rear seat base, remove the front seats and pull the carpet to dry it properly.
There's a perfectly efficient drainage system from the fan, down into the heater box and on down to the rear footwells...
If you're to do the job properly you'll find water in the heater ducts and under the front footwell... The insulation here will hold several litres before the carpet gets wet.
