Title: 'Erotic' posts
Post by: Jimbob on 14 July 2008, 19:20:44
Love all the semi naked ladies various people post.

BUT please can we all put something along the lines of the content in the title, save any embarrasement clicking on something at an inappropriate moment.

I propose starting all threads with page3 style pictures with NWS (Not Work Safe) then the title of your post, so they can be easily avoided when neccessary  :y

Cheers All

ie "NWS - 2 ladies need help"

Totally with agree Jimbob.

They need to do what I have done in the past by adding to this to header bar.

It only takes a millisecond to add a warning ... and is a sign of respect for other members of OOF who MAY have different opinions on what is "funny" ... all adds up to a "friendly" site

just my opinion.. thats all  :y :y :y :y

Very good common sense suggestion Jimbob! :y :y

It would certainly avoid the very unfortunate experiences for many we have experienced. :y :y

Any of "those" posts without this should be deleted. ;)

I agree, my young daughter likes to look over my shoulder sometimes, as I am sure other members children do, let alone the workplace. Partly why I do not OOF at work.

Reminds me of the *very* early days of the web... I was trying to convince the boss to pay for the ridiculously expensive *internet subsciption*, telling him what internet is all about, choosing The White House as an example (www.whitehouse.gov) but typing in www.whitehouse.com.... Next thing was my boss looking down at me while a pair of boobs slowly (at dialup speed) loading on screen  :D

I think some threads need a seperate topic with warning [ over nn only ] if it does not comply with heading

Use this area to talk about anything you like, but keep it pleasant, clean and polite and LEGAL please

Some of the things I have posted are not 100%

Most other forums I visit only registered members can see " jokes, etc"

Just my penny worth

Yes, I gave  a guy who got out from a Omega a card about the site along with my mobile no, tech info threads etc thought were good,
did not like some of the material found on general chat

His choice not mine !

Hmm -- do we ( I used the term "we" loosley  ::) ) get carried away sometimes ?

I guess it's easy to forget when we are having a bit of banter with those we "know", that there are others who do not yet have the measure of the site or some of it's members.  I admit there are one or two members who I find a bit offputting, even though I know that's just the way they are .... so a raw newbie might well run and hide!

Maybe we could have a section for those above senior only--- so should be well aware of the characters on the forum. Although I fear this would be devisive .........p'raps we should just behave ourselves  :-[

That's a little bit elitist if you ask me. which of course you didin't :)

As adults I would have hoped that if we find something offensive we would just move away from that board. If you see something on the telly that you find offensive do you continue watching it and then complain? or do you change channels or even turn off?
Everybody has their limit to what they will or won't put up with but they do have a choice.
The only real issue I see is that of children having access to the site. Just becasue the forum is about cars and that the majority of it's users are consenting adults doesn't mean that children will not be on here looking. Most of them will probably have found much worse than has ever been put on here.

So rather than have a section only for those aboce a certain status maybe there could be a "adult" themed section that has some form of age verification on it. you can then excersize you choice to opt in or not.

I personally don't think Skruntie has anything to apologise for. I don't find the material he has posted offensive or otherwise none of what I have seen shows anybody doing anything against their will, they all appear to be excersizing their choice to display all.

Censorship has it's place but among adults it should be self governing imho.

By the way did I mention Choice at all  ;D

Cheers for the support.  To be honest I am the cheeky chappie sort.  I like a laugh, I love the toungue in cheek banter and as most red blooded men its nice to see the odd female picture, but in my case of posting there's allways a twist to it.

Outright nudity or provocative poses that were posted I would if I was the sort of person to post (which I am not) expect an Admin warning or /and then be booted from the forum.

I for one would like a cheeky section, then anyone entering would do so on the understanding  of it's contents.  I am aware this has been mentioned before and its suggested that it need not be seperated.

But I feel the main chat section at least ought to be forum members only, then rather than read it, you have to join and read it.

Just a thought.   :y

Just seen the bit above about being a senior.  Maybe worth considering.  May well get more people posting as well.

There are 100's of members that have joined and never even posted.

Pity a script couldnt be witten that once they post in the welcome section it opes them up to allow them access to other sections

Too much work involved I know. :-/

Easy to do, but won't happen.  The ethos of OOF is all areas are open to everyone (I know we have for sale limits, sadly).

I'll admit that I do sometimes feel like I'm poking my nose into other peoples business when I leave a post on here. I look at my post count (just been promoted :)) and find that I'm thousands behind most of the people on the thread and you find that it's the usual suspects posting on a daily basis. But then that's the idea.
My hangups about joining in the fun are because this is the only forum I've ever posted more than 1 item on and I'm sure I'm not the first nor the last to feel that way. I now find myself checking every day and if there's something posted and I don't like it I'll move off that thread and look at something else. TB's policy of letting it all run and then discussing any contentious issues behind closed forum doors with the admin's make sense. I don't think you should see it as a problem though, you are never going to find a solution that pleases everybody.
You can ban posts about Race, Colour, Creed but then where do you stop.... no posts incase we offend veggies, Arsenal supporter's, people from the North/South...like me here you could go on and on to the point where the only person loging on each day will be TB  :'(

I'll shut up now.

Hiya Brian T, I do understand what you mean about feeling awkward posting when folks seem to know each other so well; I felt very much the same when I came to OOF; but, what a cracking bunch of people the OOF`ers are!....`made me feel REALLY welcome (even if at times I post 'nonsense' stuff).

As an aside: I`ve been a member of a Land Rover forum for a couple of years now and still only have a post count of '15'.....`sorry to say it`s because; they`re just not very friendly/approachable.....I do 'lurk' there becase the technical stuff is excellent and well worth staying current (as it always is with OOF).

I`m actually rather shy and until joining OOF struggled to imagine being able to participate in (what is really) a 'blokey' forum.....but with friendly and welcoming encouragement on OOF it`s very enjoyable.

Please don`t be put off posting.....`dive in!  :y

I have been reading the MX5 forum for about 3 weeks, in their T+C they say don't post anything a child can't read so I know what the limits are. I have just joined their forum as they seem a friendly bunch (but not as friendly as here) and have been made welcome. I have noticed that Tony WIM and Kevin Wood are members, oh and they have a Laidback too.
