Dear all..
My omega is 2.2 and it feels so heave, even if the air conditioning is off
I am thinking of upgrading to the V6, My mechanic says that the 3.0 is the most reliable.
So what do you think??
-
Not practical IMO . . . not totally sure about everything that would have to be changed . . .but it will be a lot :-\
Why not just buy a V6 version :-\ :-\
-
I think the first problem, is the sub-frames are different (prepares to be proved wrong) then there's the wiring loom, and ECU's, and you'll need the exhaust system. Probably more.
-
Wiring is basically plug and play plus a V6 instrument cluster ;)
Plus engine/subframe, exhaust, front suspension and radiator/coolant plumbing...
Whilst doing it is all perfectly fine, collecting the parts could prove a challenge locally :-\
-
Thank you all
First let me say in my contry we have to pay registration fees....a new omega will cost around 1200£
The other problem ...its hard to find a good one.so i would rather stick with my car.
Any more clarifications regarding the swap would be appreciated.
Note: i think i should buy a half cut.
-
To be clear .the registration fees cost around 1200€ .not the car price
-
What are the rules(if any) about modified vehicles over there ? . If yours is a good one the best way rather than trying to buy all the parts individually would be to find a running donor car to swap all the necessary bits from.everything to do the conversion plus a shed loads of spares left over.
-
Ok ...its a little complicated here...there is only 2 ways for me..1- half cut 2- individual parts . (Engine-transmission-etc..)
-
Also being a 2002, the 3.0 will complicate matters as you will also need the throttle cable.
Electrically a 2.6/3.2 wood make more sense.

Would a 3.2 Frontera V6 engine swap well into a 2.5 V6 Omega ?

Would a 3.2 Frontera V6 engine swap well into a 2.5 V6 Omega ?
Yes would fit, need to use 2.5, plenum, throttle body, and get some 3.2/2.6 omega manifolds.
If the 2.5 is auto, then you would need Ar35 gearbox from a 3.2/3.0.
-
This is not my area of expertise, but have you considered trying to boost performance by some of the various upgrades and tuning strategies that there are available? What is in my mind includes better porting, free-flow exhaust and perhaps re-mapping of the ECU.
The experts in that field will be along soon, I am sure, to tell me that I am talking rubbish - not for the first time!

I have an entire spare Frontera V6 auto !
