Title: Label in Windscreen; Is this "normal" windscreen or a bit more...
Post by: polilara on 14 July 2018, 17:46:08
Hello

Windscreen of my Elegance model is soon ready to be changed. It is labelled:
GM SPLINTEX
Laminated GF
DOT24 M1 11 AS1
Transp. 75% min
E6 43R - 008591
0  ...

So the dealer said it is normal glass without any special properties to prevent e.g. solar heat when shining. I remember someone told that these screens are comfortable when sun is shining so I would not like to get a cheap one instead...

I can have a look at mine tomorrow if it helps.  I know its the Original screen as had car from new  :y

Mine is the slightly older Pre Facelift (only by 18 months or so thought) but not sure if there are differences depending on Country as your in Finland ?

Someone with an Elite will be able to help...

The reflective screens are not routinely fitted to lesser models unless specifically requested at time of replacement...

Incidentally, mine has exactly the same details as yours, except the 0 on the last line is a 2.

It's a base model, so no rain sensor and not reflective, but it does have a graduated blue sun strip :y

Thanks for comment, so if not reflective what does this 70% Transp. mean?

75% is the industry standard of light that can pass through it. If your windows are too darkly tinted, then you might not be able to safely drive in certain light/weather conditions.

In case it becomes relevant in the future, mine is a Dec 2003 registered CDX. The windscreen labelling is identical excepting I also have a '2' on the last line.
