There is one diesel breaking in 'u pull it' but it's in Edinburgh, they also have a depot in York might be worth a look.

It's manual. The car is still here, despite the scrappie promising to come back today wih a smaller truck. However, I am not inclined to whip the gearbox off it tomorrow, so I fear you are too late.

This car is presumably road legal, as it looks nothing like a British police car. It came down from Bicester today. The gearbox is apparently Omega, and the car underneath is Carlton. The V8 power unit I cannot identify, but it is LPG converted, and the boot is entirely free of fuel tanks.

Lexus v8?
-
Yep. The L on top on the engine gives it away. :) I bet it can shift. 8)
-
Gixer, eat your heart out. ::)
-
Did the MV8 ever get finished ? :-\
-
yup tis lexus,runs 320,but is to have a supercharger , ;D
car is a carlton 1.8 carb model, wind up windows no sunroof, spent most of its life sat in a barn, and had zero rust! which is why it was chosen, senator bonnet and headlights, coilovers 330mm hi spec brakes on front ,holden diff with lsd, which incidently is a direct swap, and 24v driveshafts, Omega gearbox, holden prop and donuts, steering is corsa c rack with same car supply electric steering, snap off steering wheel and an alarm which is both passive and live, unless you know how to use it there is no way you can start the car even by jumping wires under the dash/column, you would have to strip the dashboard out to find the controller where it feeds nto the original wiring system and then you have just an inch of wire to play with,
no tank in boot for lpg, normal petrol tank cut down to a third of its size and welded back up,
fuel tank for lpg is then mounted where petrol tank was, had to weld a frame into the boot floor,to mount it all
lpg filler is hidden in boot frame, on rear wing,
petrol tank uses normal filler, front push bar is handmade, and you can stand on it !
exhaust is twin pipes feeding from tubular headers all the way to the rear where currently it runs just 2 cherry bombs, there is no cross over Terry can testify to the fact its very quiet till you hit the loud pedal,it passes a noise test at castle coombe at 3k,but after that, its ahem, attention grabbing shall we say?and driving through bath streets, it sounds superb, pedeStrians al turn to look lol its just a humoungous car to drive,no matter where you are in the ev range it just pulls like a raped ape, biggest problem you get is people in m,way braking hard to take pictures, wave or make slly faces lol,
-
oops, how did it end up with an omega dearbox?
lol it was in the workshop doing nothing,so upon measuring it was the perfect size for the car without cutting the tunnel, custom made adaptor to bolt to v8,lightweight custom flywheel with lexus crank pcd,
an vaux clutch cover spacing,240mm clutch originally which handled the power, but was fec king heavy to use,
flywheel adaptor to allow 1st motion shaft spigot bearing, lexus crank has a huge 1inch hole, for spigot,(we needed to get it down to vaux size)which actually somehow slid out of the back of the flywheel and lunched the 1st motion shaft bearing in the current box, hence the need for another one,it now has lugs welded to it to prevent it happening again, however we will get another box as a backup for the future, we only found out what had happened cos it was making a weird noise on tickover, which was the shaft slapping around, while we had it off, changed the clutch plate to a paddle one side and a normal on other side,so we had best of both worlds with a grippy but lighter clutch!

Very nice project. :y
-
Superb project indeed. A worthy successor to the Lotus Omega ?

Superb project indeed. A worthy successor to the Lotus Omega ?
lol Jonny owns it not me,i just assisted,he has assisted me on various projects including the 24v monza beast, and on the mega meega project years ago,
problem for me is now nowhere to build anything i would like to,and to be honest some will have seen the merc sprinter I bought as a project, which had been partially converted to a M.home campervan,I have been steadily working on it for 4 years and actually love doing it, although a different direction for me,its the challenge of sorting things out that i like, been a lot of fun doing it and the beauty of it is, its never really finished, we use it a lot but you always find more bits you can make better, However if mates call and say can you give me a hand with this? Im usually there, funny enough Jon has 90 percent of my tools in his workshop,as i had simply nowhere to put them, and as its a collection of over 40 years worth he is having his eyes opened to exactly what can be done with the correct tools etc :y
