Hello!
My first post here. I'm from Norway so I apologi for any poor writing.

First problem:
The engine does not seem to get hot enough. It rests around 80 degrees according to the dash.
It's lacking that little extra. Thermostat replaced twice.
When it's around minus 5 degrees here and icy windows, 20 minutes of idling with the heat on "HI" don't clear the windscreen properly.
Several years since i had an Omega last time but i remember that i should sweat inside the car with the heat on "HI" no matter the outside temperature.
How is the flow of water to the heater core controlled on these cars?
Is also red that the circulation pump on these cars ment for Scandinavian countries are wired to work all the time when the car is running? No power in the connector there when the car was running.
The cambelt is do in 2000 km so i don't know anything about the condition on the water pump. Will replace it all and the beginning of the next year.

The Ac fan was running all the time when i bought it no matter the settings on the panel or the outside temperature. The eco button did not work either. I removed the relay to the fan and then the eco button works. Is this caused by a faulty thermal switch? I have bought a new one anyway. Not the biggest problem but it's nice with some ac again in about 7 months i guess.

Your heater core is probably badly blocked, which is a common Omega problem.
There is a forum guide to flushing the heater, but if you're not getting even warm air I doubt you'll get much of an improvement. Mine was the same, so I fitted a new core, and cut the end off the old one. Only two of the pipes were able to flow water, the others were packed solid. The new core gave out hot air in less than a mile.
A new core costs about €20 and should be easier to fit to an Opel.

It's getting hot enough but I can easily drive with the heat on "HI" all the time.
I towed a trailer the other day and then i got proper heat so i had to turn it down a bit.
I think I will try to flush the heater core when i'm going to replace the cam belt and water pump anyway.

The ac fan aka the condenser fan was running constantly when the car was running. I discovered that after i bought it.
So as I wrote in my first post i removed the relay as a quick fix right now. I think the thermal switch on the radiator is broken. I will replace it anyway since it's cheap.

Got a friend of mine who's into Omegas and he said there is no doubt that the heater core is partially blocked.
I feel quite a big temperature difference between the in and outgoing hose.
I have ordered a new one which i had to order from Denmark (Nissens).
I getting harder and harder to get parts for these cars. I heard rumors that the rear brake shields are hard to come by now?

Try flushing it out with a hose first. Something like this! (http://) You don't really want to replace the matrix unless you have to.
The flow through the matrix is controlled by the Heater Bypass Valve (HBV) which is vacuum operated and is found at the rear of the cylinder head and connects to the heater matrix pipes. Usual sign of valve failure is leaking coolant but it can also jam due to scale build-up.
Probably doesn't make a blind bit of difference but I always mix the anti-freeze with de-ionised water.

On a left hooker, swapping the heater matrix is an easy couple of hours ;)
Also, the 'winter pack' coolant pump is only for circulating coolant when the engine is off, and only for as long as it can maintain the chosen temp on the climate panel :y

So on Opelduude's Omega the auxiliary coolant pump should not be running when the engine is running?
And if the engine is running there would/should be vacuum to operate the HBV in the normal manner?

Exactly. Secondary pump behaves exactly the same as uk cars fitted with it :y
