Title: Christmas Cards
Post by: Varche on 18 December 2018, 13:11:18
Baj Humbug moment?

Anyone else find them a pain each year? Where do you put them? Have I forgotten anyone? Was the card sent good enough for the recipient?

I told my elderly dad to give them a miss this year. Just ring people and wish them the best having enquired how things are going. He continued as normal. Every day an avalanche of cards arrive.

What do you do?

If you position your cardboard re-cycling bin correctly ...
(inside the door, below the letter box)
such problems can be dealt with quickly ,once a fortnight  :y

Yes, we have a bag at the side of the fireplace for 'unimportant' cards, but it has a picture of Santa on it, so not really a waste bag. The ones from nearest and dearest go up.

It can happen to anyone, anytime. Don't assume that we all live till old age takes us. If I were you I'd give me that tata of yours and get rid of the signum. You'd be much safer in a diesel astra.

Sorry to hear that, Henry. Can you imagine the boost charities would get if that became the norm?

This year I've been able to satisfy both my holier-than-thou sense of giving and my Scrooge like nature by buying charity cards at 40p each, and buying enough for next year as well. Win Win Win! ::) ::) ::)

Every year I send them out 2nd class thinking I've got all my bases covered, then I'll get one or two from people I've forgotten, but it's OK as I can respond 1st class.  :y

Then on Christmas Eve always, there will be one more arrive..... Bastid!  ::)  ;D

Don't send them but say you have seems to work quite well.

Look disappointed shake your head and blame the state of the postal system.

We lived in our last house for 30 years ( moved in in 1988) & every year a card arrived for the original owners who moved out in 1972.

Only write 1 and that's just so I get Christmas dinner..

Cant see the point of them. You send 1 then get 1 back..if you don't get 1you think they don't care...all seems totally pointless to me :-\

;D We've had one here (moved in a 2.5 years ago) for the previous, previous owners.. but even that's not going back as far as 1972! ;D

Every year I feel a tiny bit bad that there's no way to forward it on, and no return address..

Just got one today from Bhutan from friends on holiday.

The very best thing was the postage stamp had their photo on it. The UK Post Office is missing a trick there.........

People would be put off their Christmas dinner if Opti started sending them pictures of himself.
