Title: No RPM Signal to Auto Gearbox??
Post by: Jim on 15 March 2019, 07:42:49
I got a diagnostic done last night on my 2000 3.0 V6,
I’ve had a problem over the last few weeks where I’ve had to use the auto box like a manual and pull away in 1 and then go up the gears, as the car tries to pull away from static in D it feels like it trying to pull away in 3rd gear or something, the diagnostic says there is no RPM signal any ideas??

There's an output shaft speed sensor. As I recall it's near the top of the side at the nearside rear of the box. I'd check it for corroded or broken wiring. Unplug the connector and clean maybe.

What was the actual code? Not getting engine rpm, or not getting the road speed signal?

The latter will likely cause speedo to drop to zero

The speedo works fine, also the snow & sport button don’t work, this all happened at the same time, I drove the car to work all was good, I finished work and it didn’t work

Watching with interest, as Terbs has exactly the same, intermittent problem. (1700 stored in engine eco, 500 and an unknown 730 stored in TCM).  Poiont to potentially the rear sensor on the transmission (or its wiring).
