This begins today, this time around it's being held in japan so if you're wanting to watch it the time difference will of course need taking into account.Someone over there is taking it seriously as the other day a crowd of 15,000 gathered to watch the Welsh team training :o

Watching tomorrow morning*
*presuming that tonight doesn't over do it... ::)

To be fair if I'd gone half way across the globe to see it, I'd want to catch everything I could.
Also I'd imagine the controversy of Rob Howley has upped the already significant focus on the team.

Cover your tattoos, or you'll be steamed and eaten with rice.

Daughter and hubby have both semi-finals and final tickets. :y

I'd love to go to Japan! 8)
But I think I'd rather go when the place isn't over run with drunken Brits, Aussies, Kiwis and Saffers! :)

Japan is permanently overrun, except for Tokyo, I believe that's quite quiet. ;D
-
Englands campaign got off to a reasonable start although with all the handling errors they committed I think the scoreline was somewhat flattering as a "better" team than Tonga would I feel have severely punished those errors.Hopefully they'll tighten up on these basics as the tournament progresses.

Also, hopefully Eddie Jones' playing down of Jonny May's 'injury' isn't just bluster. He's the kind of player that can make some magic that lifts a whole team, to lose him so early would be a massive blow >:(

Do it, one of the best trips I've ever done with my mates. We have been all over the states and Europe, but Japan was by far the best.
The food, culture, everything is so different. Not place if you have food allergies though, as 70% of the time, we had no idea what we had ordered. ;D
That was part of the fun though, we did Tokyo and Kyoto :)
-
Oh and it's the first time ever on a train where I felt pushed back in my seat, as the train accelerated from 140mph due to bad weather. They apologised in English for running so slow due to bad weather. ;D
-
I can't decide which is best. The Scotland football team or the Scotland rugby team. :)
-
Todays Japan v Ireland seems to have upset the Irish somewhat.

Shit happens ;D
-
I honestly love the Japanese team, they are great ambassadors for the sport and they captured the imagination of the country beating RSA last world cup
I really hope they make it out of the group stages.
-
On today's performance they certainly deserve to :y
-
Agreed they are certainly not just there for the beer ;D they play with full commitment.
-
Come on Wales, don't let this lead slip :y
-
We’re awesome the moment but Australia are never to be underestimated
-
He says :'(
-
They only went and did it! Yay :y
-
God I’m knackered :) Australia are hard as nails.

I was in Killarney last night and it felt as if they had lifted the cup......
-
Pretty close run thing at the finish for the Welsh. But a win is a win so good on them :y
-
How the Italians got away with only having one player sent off is a mystery. An amazingly dangerous "tackle" :o :o
-
Yes and England in the quarter finals :y
-
England/France match has been cancelled.Scotland/Japan was still on but could be cancelled which if it is would see Scotland out of the competition. All because Japan is going to have a bit of a breeze this weekend :D :D
-
The wisdom of having the tournament in Japan during typhoon season. ::)

Yep. F1 quali cancelled on Saturday too.
-
Scotland v Japan match is back on-kick off this afternoon UK time :y Hope the match lives up to expectations now.Meanwhile Wales play Uruguay which if Wales win will put them top of their group and mean they go on to meet France.
-
Wales made heavy weather of their game and the scoreline flattered their performance somewhat. They're going to have to improve quickly especially given that they have a quick turnaround to their match against France.Japan v Scotland certainly lived up to its billing, what an absolutely superb match :y :y
-
Tending to think Japan could be serious contenders as their approach to the team game is quite stunning given the turnaround the national team have made over the past few years.
I,m sure our own Eddie Jones must take a lot of credit for the ethos he instilled in them

They also seem to be one of the few (only?) Teams to have fully taken on board the high tackle rules - as refereed in this world cup.
Their two-up tackling against Scotland's big players in the centre was great to watch. First man going low to slow the attacker with the second man going in higher but with time to accurately place the hit. It's obviously something the team has been drilled on and it worked a treat today and against Ireland too. :y
-
I'm not a rugby man, and don't fully understand the rules, but I certainly enjoyed that game today.
-
Yes me too, it was far better than ours, a pleasure to watch, but at least we’re through.

Assuming you're supporting your home team, I really hope they show what a great team they are from here on out. They've done good but made a real meal of the group stages!
-
Indeed I hope so too :y
-
Well done, England :y
-
Oh dear, Ireland, this could be any score.
-
Storming game by England, looks like poor Ireland need a miracle though :-\
-
Well played England and deserved the win ,however Australia are a shadow of their past teams tbh. They have some genuine worldclass players but seem to lack the full team/80 minutes of old.
All Blacks are something else though and England will need to perform out of their skins to beat them if they bring their usual A game, but anything is possible at this stage and should be a excellent match next week.
I would reallyike to see Japan progress further and they certainly have the mind set to so looking forward to that match tomorrow .The entire of Japan will nodoudt stop to support their National Team...what a great example they set :)
-
Great game for England well done 😀
-
I think the All Blacks[pretty much as usual]are the team to beat.I'd really love to see the Japanese team progress-their home fans would go ballistic!-need Wales to bring their A game to the match tomorrow and beat the French :y
-
Not going too well for the Welsh at present-although still fairly close]hopefully they can pull it round in the second half.
-
Bit lucky there, Wales, the French kicker wants a kicking himself and the big bastard who elbowed a Welsh player in the face should get a ban.
Nevertheless, a semi final beckons.
-
Can’t stick much more of these cliffhangers :'( :'( but glad we just about made it and that number 5 very much more than likely cost France the game.
-
Looking forward to Japan South Africa should be epic.
-
Lucky decision or the correct one for the last Welsh try? Still it was awarded and a win is a win.
-
I think South Africa won as much on physicality as on their game, they're a team with plenty of scope for improvement.
-
Based on this weekend's performances, next Saturday's Eng v NZ will be the Tournament decider.
If Wales start like they did today against any of the three teams left in it, they'll be dead and buried before half time. ::)
-
Totally agree ,just need to get past them All Blacks :( and our name is on the Trophy...wishful thinking ;D
-
A Wales vs England final would be awesome a great boost for the northern hemisphere teams👍 And what a show that match would be!

I'd never write Wales off, as I've said before on this thread, they are a great team with world class talent in the backs and the forwards. But, they just haven't fired at any stage of this tournament. I really hope they do the business next weekend because if they go out, without ever having really performed it will be hugely sad for such a talented group of players.

Couldn't agree more. Then we just need to ditch the Italians and get Japan into the six Nations :y
-
Indeed what a pleasure to watch Japan, they were running around like ants in the first half 100% committed playing with everything they had and a great advertisement for the game.
-
Looking good so far if they can hold up :y
-
I reckon England v Wales final :y
-
I hope so but we’ll done England and a we’ll dererved victory if only Wales can get through now what a boost for the Uk who allegedly can’t do anything on their own!
-
Almost the perfect England performance despite the 2 ruled out tries...if they had stuck I think the score line would of been about right.AB,s totally outplayed and made to look very average today, but still a great side.
Now if Wales can pull out a performance they are more than capable of doing they will beat South Africa, and it would be a very special final
-
When is the final ? I shall make sure Im outside watching rain dripping off the roof, or something equally exciting.
-
Each to there own Albs….incase you are interested ..and its not raining ;D..South Africa V Wales.
Next weekend 3rd place play off ..New Zealand V …?? Final...England V ..??? :y
-
England bossed the game from the start and thoroughly deserved the win.An England v Wales final could be one heck of a game.Come on Wales :y
-
It could be the first ever all Northern Hemisphere final? ???
C'mon ye Taffies beat the Saffies!! :y
-
Yes if Wales beat SA it will indeed be the first ever all Northern hemisphere final and the first time ever the Wales have reached a World Cup final.Todays game could get interesting :y
-
Too interesting at the moment what a crazy game.
-
Oh dear, I’m going to have to be a temporary English fan now. Come on England!,
-
Hard luck, Wales, that could have gone either way. I think England would prefer SA in the final, rather than Wales.
-
Such a shame for the Welsh as up to 75 minutes in I really thought they would sneak it and either get a penalty or even a try as they were well camped inside SA 25 metre line...needless penalty and then compounded by another and it was game over...very cruel but that's sport.
That really could of gone either way....if England can perform next week the same as they did this week I cant see SA coming out winners ,but England do play like the weather tbh
-
Hey, if England play like they played against the All Blacks they will walk all over South Africa! And anyone else for that matter!
-
I think people are massively underestimating South Africa. I've got friends who thought Japan would beat them. And even more friends who thought Wales would turn them over. I wish I'd taken their bets, because as far as I can see, up until now SA are basically just doing enough to beat the opposition in front of them. That is a sign of a very very good team.
Against Japan they adopted the Ali 'rope-a-dope' tactic of defending solidly for 60 minutes soaking up all the pressure that Japan could muster, and then opening up in the final 20 minutes.
Against Wales they again defended solidly, and took the penalty points when Wales cocked up. Wales just didn't have the guile to get past the SA defence despite being camped on the SA goal line several times.
So the question for me is do SA have an attacking/running game because they haven't really shown it in the last two outings. If they do, and they decide to bring it to the final then England are going to have to work extremely hard to overcome the solid SA defence. If SA don't have an attacking game, then can England maintain their discipline so that they don't give away penalties in kickable positions.
-
Labour day weekend here in NZ. *everyone* expected to spend the weekend drinking beer, cooking on the barbie and celebrating another win over England ::)
The national press is in a state of shock - they really didn't see it coming.
Should be an 'interesting' day in the office tomorrow. :)
-
On performances so far I'd say England are slight favourites for the win, however the final is a whole different proposition.England need to maintain discipline as SA will punish any lapse. Both teams are physically strong and there could be a fair bit of blood spilled.Whichever way it goes I hope it's a good match and not just a kicking game that the Wales/SA match seemed to go to too often.
-
I hope it's a good match and not just a kicking game that the Wales/SA match seemed to go to too often.
If SA kick like they did vs Wales it will do England the power of good, Faf de Klerk's length was inconsistent and (with the exception of a superb kick to pin wales in their 22' late in the game) poorly positioned. Wales should have made much more out of it but just couldn't capitalise.
They were also agonisingly slow in attack for the first 40, meaning their first up runners were having the snot knocked out of them. Its a real shame, because I honestly believe Wales can be tactically a lot smarter than they were yesterday.
The national press is in a state of shock - they really didn't see it coming.
Indeed, last week the NZ press made much noise about England being the most overrated team in world rugby. Must be fairly awkward losing to such an over-hyped bunch.:y

It's their inner Australian :D
-
Still time.......
-
Maybe not. When you see the cup being engraved while the game is still in progress.
-
I recorded it to watch later as I was out with the dog. Just deleted it. ;D
-
Bugger. My director is South African, and I've been giving him so much shit all week over it.
He's gonna enjoy Monday morning more than I am ;D
-
South Africa won.
-
Totally outplayed in almost every phase of the game.Well done SA deserved the win...England didn't really turn up today...think they played their final last weekend tbh, although an entertaining game non the less
-
Well done England . Second best in the world.
Pity our media wont celebrate that fact.
-
Look on the bright side , at least we're not Wales :y
-
I didn't think it an entertaining game at all and I don't see it going down as one of the all time great finals. On the day SA outplayed England and went on to a deserved win.The Japanese I think hosted and supported with a great enthusiasm the whole tournament,so well done to them also.
-
Yes it was not a match worthy of a World Cup Final but again well done SA
Japan hosted a truly spectacular event and should be commended
-

Yes seems as Wales done so much better against them. Shame last weeks England didn’t turn up would have been a decent match then.
