Nope.....it was really like that in 68'. :)
-
The media was like that in 68, but the world was a psychedelic dayglo kaleidoscope man.
-
Only a couple I could not name but think they were both Austins
Wonder how many of them are still in existance today in the hands of an enthusiast

I thought that and only spotted 3 or 4 foreign built cars. ;)
I say 3 or 4 as one might be the same car. :-\
-
Recognised them all ,had some of them & lusted after a few .. Indeed what went wrong ☹️
-
Not many (any) BMW on show. Fritz was still smarting from the war, which had only ended 23 years before. :)
-
.......nothing 'froggie' there either to tempt French Albs. :)
-
Sorry to contradict Opti but there's a Renault Dauphine heading away from the camera in the bit that shows the hitchhikers.Only saw one German[Merc SL 190?]but many-like my dad-at that time would still not buy a German car because of the war!As to what went wrong [mis]management lack of investment for new models bolshie unions/workforce.

Yep...you're right, Mr Baza. I think I caught a glimpse of a Saab 96 as well. :y
-
....and a proper Skoda with the engine at the back, built in Czechoslovakia.
-
I've spotted the Merc, a VW Beetle, the Saab and Baza's Renault. :y
The Saab makes two appearances with the guys on the tandem. :)

Ooo where was that? ???

Red Robbo and his chums have a lot to answer for! ::)

Right behind the Beetle. :)

Got it! :y
There's a glimpse of a Volvo 140 as well. :)
At 1.50-54 tucked behind the Ford Anglia van. ;)

Are you sure?
All I can see is a Mini and a Mk3 Zephyr 6. ??? ???

Yes you're right it's a Zephyr. :y
They have a similar boxy front with the round headlights though, so an easy mistake for a youngster like me! :)

Is that a yank tank that flits briefly left to right across the bottom of shot? Certainly appears big enough and Ford Galaxies were at one time quite popular among "certain members of society".

They were.
A kid at school would be picked up by a Galaxy. Compared to a Mk 1 Cortina it looked like an ocean going liner. :D
-
probably handled like one too :D ;D
-
another old film clicky (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sq5mklfDPrY) forklift safety
amazed how many "accidents" they did ;D to show danger :o

Great piece of film, and I know so many of those makes and models of cars.......scarry! :o :o
Watching the film, and seeing so many cars that are in a similar, or even worse, condition than mine was in 1970, I have to wonder if ANY would pass today's MOT (forgetting the emissions part of the test!); just on bodywork condition and the basics, like lights, all working, alone?! ;D ;D :D ;)
Different days, different ways! ;D ;D ;)
-
Mk2 zodiac too, tr4, A40, loved the old cresta pa too, but the old time gambo with the pram wheels was probably the most reliable of that lot ;D ;D

They were insanely expensive, so any sensible person spent much less money on more car

Marketed as a Ford Thames. I nearly bought one and put windows and seats in, as it was a way of avoiding purchase(?) tax and getting a new passenger vehicle. ??? ??? ???
Fortunately I bought a s/h Mk1 Consul instead, which was a very well built car, much more robust than the LowLine Zephyr which I followed it with.:y
