Post by: Rangie on 10 November 2019, 17:46:48
Took the dog out after lunch today for his usual walk, heard this fantastic V8 burble coming up the road from behind us,  turned to see what it was a beautiful looking 19 reg Morgan in a beautiful maroon colour looked absolutely gorgeous.

There are far better/comfier/faster etc cars out there, but there is something quite compelling about a Morgan 8)

Was it the original shape from the 1930's.......or was it the boss-eyed version?

If it was the 'original' then check here...

if it was a 19reg must have been the very, very last of them.

Obviously the dopey eyed one runs a BMW V8 I think, and theyre still going.

My holiday buddy blasts round in a V6 Roadster.  Despite being made out of old trees, it can go round corners reasonably well, but it can also catch you out if you quickly change direction.

But with you 'arris a few inches off the deck, even 80mph seems like a world speed record attempt.

Actually, for all its faults from being a million year old design, and made out of a bit of ash, it is a supremely comfortable cruiser, and we've taken it to the south of France.  Just post your luggage, as there is room for a manbag and a map.

Like the rarity of them certainly not something you see every day & this one was a real stunner.

Million year old design made out of ash, you say?

That's a Plus 8 chassis .. it shares the same chassis as the Aero 8 - or I should say "shared", I suppose, now! If you get the chance, go on a factory tour there - the blend of old-school workmanship (panel beating, the ash framed body etc) and new-world (bonded aluminium structures) is eye opening, as is their attitude to "We can build anything you want, Sir (for a price)" ;D

I went out in a Plus 8 Roadster - that's the one without a windscreen - when it was 8ºC in Feb. I couldn't feel my eyeballs after about five minutes ;D Everyone after me seemed to get a crash helmet for some reason! ;D I'd have one in a heartbeat.

Just been on the website out of curiosity and the 3 wheeler does 0-60 in 6 seconds...on 82bhp!

Just shows how much weight is the enemy of all things, speed, handling, mpg.
