Title: Very tempted....
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 27 August 2008, 08:51:02
Seen this, not sure if I should go for it.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/2003-Vauxhall-Omega-Elite-V6-Auto-Leather-FSH-T-T_W0QQitemZ190245790932QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190245790932&_trkparms=72%3A12%7C39%3A1%7C66%3A2%7C65%3A12%7C240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Only needs an oil cooler and a bloody good service and clean.....anybody else looking at it?

Could probably do the oil cooler down there (about 3 hour job) and drive it back.

Cheap enough isn't it!

Looking at the state of the boot, drivers seat etc I wouldn't go with the 'maintained at all costs line though'! Probably just me but if they couldn't clean the inside they won't have excelled on anything else.

Lol, not a problem for me though, grubbier the better!

At least the inside is purely cosmetic  :y

You know you want to....   ....but no messy jobs on your driveway ;D

Tempted myself, but not in a position to buy as no room until tractor goes.

If you do go for it and want a hand fixing/towing, pick me up on way through - she's at a craft thing all weekend, so I'm at a loose end.

Does it have a heat reflective screen? looks like it's got a purple tinge to it.

nice, but if you get an elite, wouldnt you rather get one with a cid?

get it home, you would need to do an auto-man conversion, lpg it with a wheel well tank and away you go ;)

Looks tempting, cambelt due but i guess you'll swap that over while waiting for the kettle to boil!! NEEDS a thorough valet, did'nt late Elites have built in colour satnav?
     Go for it! 8-)

CCR2006/MID was std equipment, Satnav was always an option (though the last ones on any model often have many options fitted as std)

3.2's had the nav with mono screen, 2.6's didn't. CID was always a cost option

Oil cooler failure.....without doubt and certainly not headgasket!

No longer bidding on it as I have to much on!

You couldn't help with an oil cooler project then...  ;)

Is anyone else bidding?

didn't it just..  maybe it was the owner or his mate bidding it up - mind you it takes two to hike the sale price up.

Winning bidder has fb of 4.  Bet it doesn't complete... ::)

Don't forget, the Chancellor is still planning to put car road tax up retrospectively for any car registered after 1 march 2001. You could end up paying well over £400 a year for tax.

That is of you pay it in the first place. Wait and see what the budget says this november, then afterwards loads of big engined cars for sale at silly prices maybe!

That is my theory as well Mark. :y

I am going to wait until early next year when money for many will be tight (after Christmas) and the full realisation of the  new road tax bites as renewals transpire in the lead up to April. :'( :'(  Here's hoping anyway! ::) ::) ;)

No, ta.  I doubt in the extreme if the miles are genuine and the seller also knows that - see the references to signing to that effect....

It was a police car before it was an ambulance so that rules it out for me, I'm afraid.....   ;)

I think that will work.  Will use the boat anchor meantime and keep my eyes open for a nice 3.2 estate....

The pic is not the clearest but it looks like the speedo does not have the IRS sticker on it and there are the proper roof bars which is unusual on an ex-pol right enough....
