Post by: Rangie on 24 November 2019, 17:47:19
After a pretty rough year since March ( won't go into detail as it would take too long) booked a break away with the tin tent every month from April to September , Sussex Yorkshire Devon Cornwall & Norfolk so the Range Rover is in for some serious towing. Not decided where to go abroad yet in July SWMBO wants to see if we can get a bargain last minute deal , I'm all in favour of that..😎

Happiest years of our lives are the years 65 to 69.

Make the most of it as Lord Opti will then have you watching Bargain Humt, place in the country.

Happy tin tenting :y

Glad I've got something to look forward to and I hope I get there then, as I thought the years from 17 - 32 were pretty awesome!  8)

But if 65 - 69 are better...  :)

I'll be working till I'm 70, as I don't have a civil service pension, and I invested badly as a youff in Greene King shares on a daily basis. :D

Me too. And the whole Brexit nonsense has left me financially concerned for old age, as I've certainly lost an obscene amount of money from my investments over the whole ridiculous notion of it.

Your biggest pension issue is starting out working for a nationalised company which was then privatised (sort of) and the subsequent bouncing around various third parties as your department gets reassigned...
I don't see it. Quite the opposite. I've probably had far less primary jobs than most  :-\

.
I intend to retire fully 2021/2 I enjoy working on the specialised unit I'm on at present , the job keeps me physically fit, I actually passed with ease today my self defence refresher and the amount of time I have off enables me to swim ( 40 lengths per day) and walk every day for at least 90 minutes. As for pensions I was advised by relatives that were serving in the forces to make sure that I followed suit because you don't want "to be potless" in your later years glad I heeded their advice.😁

Ignoring the civil service gold lined pensions, the rest of the country is at the mercy of how people vote in referendums.

I think it's fairly obvious that the State Pension age will increase over the next few years to 70+ eventually, in reality the powers that be ( all of them) don't want people to live long enough to collect  it, stay fit & healthy my advice if you've worked for it you deserve it.

Interesting as I think most capital markets have delivered quite good returns since the referendum.  Struggling to think of which market is down on 3 years ago?

My biggest private pension pot dropped enough in the weeks following Brexit to by a reasonably nice house in some parts of the country.

Whilst growing again, its never going to make that up quickly, let alone make up for the lost profits due to lower investments.

Its pretty good, though widely spread to help reduce risk.  But I've lost 3 important years on a huge bit of the value. That is now lost.

Short of putting it on red, its probably as good as it can sensibly be.
