I have noticed on here at times, when you want to share a link to, say a web page or YouTube clip, instead of the link you use text, for example, you may say 'have a look at this', but the word 'this' is in blue, and if you click it, you get directed to the linked item.
I would like to do this on a web page. Is it possible, and how do you do it :)
The web page I want to use is my Flightsim web, which is phpvms.

generally speaking they follow the same format : (note you will have to delete the *** s as they are there to actually stop it working so you can read !!
[url***=https://www.bbc.com/news]This is the BBC
so the first part inside the [ ] is the url=web address the second part is what you want to appear on screen in blue the third part is ALWAYS as that is the "closure statement" for the code.
Should then look like
This is the BBC (https://www.bbc.com/news)
which you click on to actually go to
Hope that helps

Thanks for that...most appreciated :)

I prefer the direct link method, then there is no doubt about where you are heading

I see your point Steve....but I want to use text....for example Bad Landings...that take you to a youtube vid for bad landings !!! I don't want just links or a load of text. Just perhaps a title line that says something like..'Click on the shortcuts to see appropriate video's'.....then perhaps a list...example, Bad Landings, Bad Takeoffs, 787 Rollout......you get the idea.
Despite Entwoods good description, I can't get it to work yet. Obviously an age thing :(

Does wherever you are putting it actually use PHPBB style tags (like [ url ], [ img ] and so on) or actual HTML (like <img> and <a>)?

Tony,
open the page you want to link to in a new tab, highlight the URL and copy it to your clipboard.
Type your post.
Highlight the words you want to be the link, and click on the internet link icon(the globe) above the row of smilies.
Paste the link into the window that opens, click OK, and you're done.
Although it's probably worth checking that the link works.

Thanks again...
Aaron...checking
Nick … trying it.

Be aware the methods here are for the software running on this site (SMF), and that they wont work everywhere.
Depends where you are posting them, there may well be a different method depending on the software involved.

Find a link above in this thread, click quote and then you can see how it's made up.
EDIT
Like this One. (http://www.bbc.co.uk)

Ah...Deviator...yes, I see it. That's what I am copying to my web page, and that is exactly what I see. just the link. Evidently, as JimBob says....My Phpvms must use another way. :)
As you can tell...I am not a guru in these matters. :)
