Post by: Shackeng on 19 January 2020, 20:38:02
What is the best (ie cheapest ::)) way of improving the WiFi in my lounge, the router is about 20’ away with two brick walls in between?

"best" and "cheapest" are mutually exclusive IMHO ....  cheapest is a wifi extender (ugh) best is rewire and move your router   :)

I find a nice cat6 cable (24AWG or lower) transmits the interweb with excellent signal and full speed for £5 delivered  ;D

Jaime doesn't seem to be about, so I'll post for him:

Don't use a plug in Wi-fi extender, they are universally shite.

Use a second wired access point & set it to a different channel at least 3 channel spaces from the current one.

Seems to be sorted. I use an Aztec Powerline plug for my freesat box which seems to have wireles (Bluetooth ?) WiFi. So I’ve logged into it which has a stronger signal than my router. Time will tell.
