I wouldn't scrimp on that sort of stuff mate. Having said that there are usually loads on flee-bay

Musto, Crewsaver, P&B, Henri Lloyd, all good bouyancy aids, and all around £25 for child and £35- £40 for an adult.

Just remember they are bouyancy aids NOT life jackets.

There is no point with a self inflating life jacket because they will go off in the kyak, unless you get a hydro-static one, and they do cost a few pennies!!

My advice find a yacht chandler and go try them on, different makes do fit slightly differently, and sizing can be interesting.

For the kids i would also make sure its got crotch straps and depending how small they are maybe a collar.

If you need to buy on line, then try my mates shop :-

Consider padling comfort, which basicaly means a close fit single piece float. Life vests, although (almost) guaranteed to make you float on your back, are a swine to paddle in!
