Good morning to everyone
Last night I replaced CCR 2006 with CDR 2005 car stereo.
Volume control on both units are bad, won't work, no matter how you turn it its either too loud or no sound etc.
But with the old unit volume control on the steering wheel worked fine.
Now with the cdr 2005, you can turn down the volume, but the lowest point is very loud.
So, it goes very loud and next down level is no sound (steereng wheel volume)
I will try to clean the rotating volume control on the unit, maybe it will help with the steering wheel control
The point is to get one volume control working, don't care which one

Does the car have Bose fitted?
-
Yes, when I turn on the old radio, bose sound came up on display. Now, no, but I'd does have a bose sistem in it
It's 3.0 executive (elite) FL model

The Bose system needs a headunit that outputs at the Bose expected levels. Some (not all) CCR2006 can be programmed for either, CDR2005 is always non BOSE.
If the volume control goes from nothing to loud in a single click of the knob, its a non Bose HU in a Bose car.
Options are to fit a Bose HU, replace the amps and speakers with more generic stuff, or rip out bose amp and speakers completely and adjust the wiring in the RH kick panel, using a plug from a non Bose car.

Does it do any damage If used like this? It's not that loud :)

Potentially yes. Read the note at the top of this section regarding Bose.

Well, all the sound distortion was there, sound volume not working and speakers produced some buzzing noise. So that unit went back to the seller.
Is there any other unit from vauxhall (opel) that can be installed on the BOSE system?

Plug and play with a CCR2006/CDR2005? You only single choice is a CCR2006 from a Bose car. Very few CCR2006 are Bose compatible.
Everything else needs some degree of wiring.
