Pedantic head on ... sorry .... but as the rank of Colonel is only an "honorary" rank .. his formal title will be ..

Good for him, he richly deserves the honour.

Any suggestions for those ib recent years who certainly did not merit awards?  Footballers s[ring to mind  overpaid fairies!
