Title: code1612
Post by: cam.in.head on 22 May 2020, 17:50:53
hi to all.
my omega 2.6 has been running fine .no issues with any fault lights .
normally when starting i wait for the lights to partly go out before turning over, today i inserted key and turned it over immediately. car started straight away then stalled.
tried again normally ,started fine ,been fine all day and no fault lights on except pedal test now shows 1612. running fine ,starting fine .
spanner light stays on (solid) and doesnt go out initially like it did before. untill engine started then goes out and stays out.
chip in key is still present and not loose.
how can i reset spanner light back to no faults( constant flashing on pedal test)

My 2.6 does very similar sometimes if I turn the key to cranking straight away without pausing for a few seconds. It turns over, but stutters without firing properly. Turning off and then trying again, it then starts with no problems.
It has never thrown any lights up though.
It is as if the immobiliser and alarm are still armed and not allowing the engine to fire...( probably a bad explanation of the symptoms ::)!)
My 3.2's don't seem to do it (or I've never experienced it).
I always pause for a few seconds after turning to the ignition position so that in what I would describe in layman's terms it 'allows all the electrics to settle down' before turning to the cranking position.

thats what i always do .car needed moving quick so i just jumped in and started it in one quick turn.
searching on here seems to suggest its just because of doing that.
spanner light always came on at ign and then went out like most other lights .it now stays on until started and then stays off and car is fine.
just want to get it back to no codes showing at all like before !

well its had over 100 starts now.( all with no issues) but the pedal is still showing the code.
should it reset eventually or is it a garage job or a battery disconnect ? ?

Leave the battery off overnight and report back.

I think 1612 is one of those that hangs around. Anyone with an OBDII reader can clear it.

i do have an obd2 reader that i have used many times to clear the various codes over the years but this only shows up on pedal trick not on reader ?
i plan on fitting a new battery this weekend anyway so il see if that does it
thankyou
