Title: Electrolysis Tank - Rust Removal
Post by: grifter on 06 August 2020, 22:59:15
Has anyone else set one of these up to put rusty parts in?

I set one up a couple of months ago and it's the best thing I've ever found for removing rust, completely.

I'm now using my blue wheelie bin to put larger parts in  :). Easy to set up, just a sacrifical anode plate and a power supply wired to the anode and the part in the water. Add some baking soda and it starts bubbling the rust off.

Unfortunatley I don't yet have a tank big enough to put whole omega in!!

Why do I sense, doing something like this being done by a Brackley member, might not go well,, isn't the gas produced by electrolysis Explosive :D

Next step is a basic nickel plating kit to refinish your newly cleaned parts.

Having  a big enough tank to put the whole Omega in would provide a new way of getting rid of a rusty hulk: you could pour it down the drain :)

Only in an enclosed area, it's basically the same as a battery venting hydrogen.

Scary that I actually thought of that as an idea!
