Reading of a couple of members whose radiator fans don't come on I have the opposite problem. All three fans start up on slow speed at the same time and don't turn off until after the ignition is turned off.I know they're supposed to run for a short time after ignition off so they're working in that way,it's just that once started up they don't turn off as though they're not cooling the engine enough to stop them, but nor does it seem to get hot enough for the fans to go to high speed.Fan test shows fans reacting as they should. It's a year 2000 F/L 3.0L by the way.

If the test checks out then they're working as intended.
Worry about something else :y
Incidentally, keeping the aircon switched on, (EC button OFF), will force the fans to run faster, which may help reduce run on time. Obviously if the aircon doesn't work, then that will skew things somewhat ::)

The air con doesn't work, but then it never has,but the fan{s} used to kick in and out as needed just as my Volvo do,but now once they've kicked in they don't kick out again. The run on time after turning the ignition off is not an issue as it's not for long I included it as a piece of information to try to give as full a picture as possible.

Might be a sticky thermostat, but if the fan test checks out, then seriously, don't worry about it. :y
Running on is normal behaviour especially in warmer weather ;)
-
Well I do suppose it's better they do come on so it doesn't overheat than not come on at all as others are experiencing.
-
Not sure what they're experiencing tbh ;D

from what you are saying.the fans are off when you walk up to the car and stay off once started until the engine reaches a certain temp.they then turn on as you would expect and hopefully bring the temp down a bit but never switch off.
if you turn the ignition off the fans keep running for a bit then stop .
it sounds like the radiator switch is turning on but not turning off when it cools a bit.you could prove this by allowing the engine to run until fans come on then unplug the switch.

Normal V6 behaviour. A 3.2 driven hard will run for a good 10 mins after engine off on a hot day.
Engine will still be hot to touch over an hour later ;)
