Pretty reasonable list all in all ;)
This looks better, but obviously you'll need the other bits as well...

Yep, it's not a write off. I've already exchanged some texts with Serek - we're having a chat on the phone tomorrow to hatch a plan :y :y
-
The positive, of course, is that a subframe and wishbones are not part of the chassis, structure etc. They are bolt on components - the car is still solid :y :y

That is a brave thing to say about an almost twenty year old Land Rover any large 4x4

I'll rephrase..
There's currently nothing structurally wrong, that has been found on the MOT ;D

Apart from the subframe and suspension arms, there's currently nothing structurally wrong, that has been found on the MOT ;D
Rephrased for you :D

A year's ticket, is a year's ticket ;D

That's not what your first post suggests ::)

James, I know you don't think like this, but a common thing to hear at breakdowns was "How can it have broken down when it was MOTd only three months ago?" There are a lot of people who seem to think an MOT is a full strip down and rebuild with brand new factory parts because £50 for one is really expensive ::)

Oh absolutely! In contrast, as long as I get "It's not as rotton as a peach, and here's your ticket until next time" I'm quiet happy ;D
-
How can it pass with a list of major defects ???
-
He’s probably taken it in early

That wouldn't make it pass ???

Totally confused!
It hasn’t passed? The list you see, is the list of failures!
Hence I am discussing options with Serek :y
For clarification, of course I want a pass, but I shalll not drive anything with dangerous faults :y
-
Good luck with it James, I hope it’s not too bad mate👍👍

Your last suggested that it had passed, which is where I got confused, because, as you say, it has clearly failed ;)
-
The plastic French thing just failed the MOT because I drive it really slowly, ::) ;D
-
How is that possible? :o
-
How is that possible? :o
exhaust full of soot on a tractor that don't get a good ragging because the owner is scared him MPG figure will fall below 65 MPG
65+ Mpg being the level at which driving a French tractor is just tolerable ;) :P
-
Wouldn't that require spending more time in it? Surely the idea would be to get everywhere flat out to spend the barest minimum of time in it... :D

Obviously he wears a disguise when driving it so no one recognises him
clicky (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/DISGUISE-SET-GLASSES-EYEBROWS-FALSE-NOSE-MOUSTACHE-PARTY-BAG-TOY-JOKE-FUN/254759015443?hash=item3b50d21413:g:xUsAAOSw4DJYkdqr) plus clicky (https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fancy-dress-French-Beret-and-a-necklace-of-onions/274549812041?hash=item3fec71ab49:g:WmcAAOSw7qFe52Ob) ;)
then he only has to put up with the horrible seats, interior and woeful driving experience :)

Which is how they're driven in France. Spain. Italy. Everywhere but here, where we treat cars as pets either pampered or neglected but not as tools.

James you have PM

Have a cigar Dave. :y Failed emissions due to the above. Went for a drive and thrashed the living daylights out of it. By the time I got back to the garage, the slightly leaking injector seal on number4 had given up altogether, and blowing diesel all over the engine, so a further test was pointless. ::)
Currently 65.4mpg to be precise. :)

Easy fix then :) new injector seal
then a couple of days head scratching about the electrical gremlins induced from the easy fix :P
at least you get a couple of days driving a comfy Omega about :)
-
New seal, carb cleaner to clean the mess up and a bottle of Diesel system cleaner purchased from Eurocraprats today for the princely sum of £13.
Should all be sorted by noon tomorrow. Hopefully retest Monday. :y
-
I thought all Pug owners drove at 30mpg on the open road, rising to 45mph when entering villages?
-
I try to drive at 35mph everywhere as its the lowest tractable speed for top gear. :y
Although when freewheeling downhills I sometimes achieve much higher speeds. ;D
Injector seal now replaced and a bottle of Wynns diesel treatment chucked in the tank. Ready for retest now, just need to remember to give it a sound thrashing on the way there.

Thats how they need driving all the time. I quite like driving underpowered shitboxes, because you just rag them everywhere. Thank the Lord for hire cars ;D
-
Its actually relatively nippy when ragged. 86 horses and not many kilos as its made from plastic and cardboard.
In most real world driving scenarios my Omega wouldnt keep up with it, but its wwd, so doesnt inspire me to have fun.
The only fun is seeing how high I can get the MPG readout up to.

Pick a nice whippy branch the same as Basil Fawlty,s. ;)
