Title: 'dangle berries'....
Post by: Marks DTM Calib on 25 August 2008, 19:59:30
My brother was rushed to hospital this morning with suspected meningitis.

It turns out his boss lost his son last week from it.

Just also heard my nephew has also just been rushed in with the same symptoms.

You'd expect that to be one of the few places immune from viral outbreaks  :'(

Do not meanto cause more grief but it would seem it is bacterial rather than viral(so many people at roughly the same time)
If (and i hope it not,it is bacterial you also are at risk if you have been in contact with your brother recently.
You need to find out quick as to whether bacterial or viral.

Best wishes to you and your brother

Confirmed as viral yesterday evening.

To do this they carried out a lumber puncture during which a junior nurse fainted and smacked her head on the door frame as she went down jaming the door shut and with blood pouring every where.....

.....I tell you, with the NHS, you just cant make this stuff up!

Not a nice procedure :(

I had to be doped up and mad drugs before I would let them near me to do that, so hard keeping still with rather great needles in your spine  >:(

Thanks to everyone for the good wishes, a week in hospital and feeling much better (thanks to BUPA and not the archaic NHS!!).  2 more weeks off work at least

My son is fine, just took him in as a precaution.

Bloody painful though!!!  Never been in hospital before so its all been a bit of a shock!

Thanks again and thanks for your support bro!
