Looks like Brakkers is in for yet another >10% increase in houses. Where the hell are all these people coming from? This is unsustainable to keep losing farmland to houses. Although even if it was not Greenfield, same applies, the country doesn't have the resources to support all these people.
Mass cull needed, methinks.

When mummy and daddy love each other very much.......... ;D

Farmland is a dead duck in the UK. Apart from providing a foil between built up areas.
It will be a noble cause to support but folk have to live somewhere. Empty shops for a start?
-
Official figures say approx 300,000 per year are coming to live in the
UK insignificant little rock in the middle of the sea.
So reality is probably more like half a million.
This started about 20 years ago, so many of them will now have had kids who are now also having kids.
That nice Mr. Blair thought only a few thousand would come when he opened the floodgates.
Do the math, as our cousins across the pond would say. ;)
-
Less of your insignificant rock please.
Marvellous sovereign destination of choice.
-
The OP would disagree with your definition. ;) :D

One would hope with the change in benefits, which came in this morning, it might stop one or two..

Lets hope, but don't think they have gone far enough.
Though I aint convinced this is immigration related.
-
Immigrants follow the money, so live in London, which is already hugely overcrowded. Londoners get sick of the overcrowding and move out to the suburbs, or anywhere within a couple of hours or so commuting distance of London.
This is why the Guardianistas couldnt understand Clacton being so pro Brexit, when hardly any immigrants live there.
Point is, much of the population of Clacton used to live in London.
The Brakkers building scenario is very similar to most towns and villages across the South of England. They are building houses all over the place around here. Residents complain, but get ignored because "we have a housing shortage / crisis."
W dont have a housing crisis, we have an over population crisis. House builders dont care though, they are in the land of milk and honey and theres no sign of it stopping any time soon.
-
we have an over population crisis.
I have a great, simple, effective, quick solution.

People in other areas are fed up with masses of junk mail so, as nothing ever gets delivered in Brackley it's a safe place to move to avoid the junk mail. It's your own fault for publicising it on here. ;) ;D

So do I but its less brutal. Anyone who arrived in the UK since Blair was elected needs to demonstrate they make a serious contribution to society, by way of wealth generation, or as a highly qualified medical professional or similar, who would be difficult to replace. Otherwise a one way ticket to their place of origin.
After that, the huge number of people who although in possession of their faculties, but are terminally stupid, entitled selfish morons can all be transported to one of the islands off the coast, where they will be provided with food, shelter heat etc. but prevented from breeding.
See, im a soft kind hearted Liberal compared to you. :y ;D

I hope not! Mrs G did a rally day there a couple of years ago and loved it!

There's plenty of land in the United Kingdom.
My parents just sold half thier garden on which they had planning for a single property. If it had been the South East, and not Ynys Mon, the plot would have had 8 houses and not one.
-
Its not a simple matter of land. Apparently you could fit the worlds population shoulder to shoulder, on the Isle of Wight.
Its about the many variables which add up to quality of life.
Also, migrants by and large tend to congregate where the money is, which is understandable ,but means the South East is crammed with people.
-

Not yet. It might be protected by the fact that HS2 will separate it from Brackley. Plus the village itself is in Bucks, not sure about the airfield.

I would sincerely have to say.... ...utter bollix.
Compare to our nearest neighbour, Alb's favourite France, we have a similar population but around a 3rd of the land mass.
We need (undeveloped) land for a variety of reasons, not least of which to provide food, but also to provide drainage.
The solution is less people, not more housing.

The solution is less people, not more housing.
Also:
there are areas of land that are unsuitable for housing, some of which have already been used for it. That's also true of farming. And any other purpose you can think of.
If a lack of land was really a problem, we would have to stop the growth of developments that inefficiently cram in lots of tiny semi or detached properties each with a minute garden. We'd be building vertically, which we've been doing in cities for decades for that very reason.
Approximately 1% of the UK's area is already covered by roads....
The UK hasn't been self-sufficient in food for 200 years, when the population was about a fifth of now.
A population reduction is very hard to achieve, and has all sorts of undesirable consequences. Just look at what China's one child per family policy did, and consider what is required to enforce it.
There are cultural differences to consider; you mentioned France, where property in rural areas is cheap and hard to sell. That's why many properties in north and western France were bought by British owners, and is a market that will be adversely affected by Brexit. Buying your own property is less of a priority for the French(most Europeans really) which is another important factor of prices.
Are there solutions to these problems? Sure, but none of them are palatable enough for us to accept being told to implement them. Look at the emotional reaction to being told to wear a mask in public for proof of that.

Would this involve a Kalashnikov and a large hole in the ground?......and begin with the letter 'C'
