1st problem.
Had a new battery fitted on 1st Dec etc, used again on the 4th Dec to get car MOT.
Used a couple of times just before christmas, Go out today to check car before an apoinment I have tomorrow to a totally dead battery.
AA man reckons it has been drained by something left switched on. On connection the hazzards were flashing and would not switch off till remote fob was used. Had the hazards active on another Omega in the past with a flat battery. Is this a common issues with these cars.
If the fault is with the alarm, If thats the case what then do I look for or simply can it be disabled.
---------------
2nd problem.
During driving round the rev counter and speedo stopped working, all other gauges ok. AA reported a mileage of 56027, when I saw the speedo was not working the oddometer was 56041 but then watched it change to 42 would the oddmeter still carry on recording if there was fault or are the reedles inactive a fault on thir own.

problem 2
I had this with my 53 plate 2.6 V6
started intermittently but got worse
tacho and speedo not working but odometer still recording the miles correctly
i tried cleaning contact strips etc ,I replaced the binnacle in the end
replacement binnacle needs to be from the same engine as the original
as for problem 1 ,if anything was left on then it would kill the battery
has the power sounder been removed ? have you checked the boot light, glove box light etc
the alarm may just trigger as you power up after a dead battery perhaps ?

after just having an electrical issue with mine i first checked the current draw with everything off.i found that once the door lights and interior light had gone out there was a draw of approx 0.25 amp. this alone would have flattened the battery if left for a while but after i monitored the car it dropped to 0.02 after approx 3/4 hour . so all was well.
i was chasing a different fault which kept setting off the alarm and affecting the interior light staying on.a good battery on a standard omega should be able to be left 2 months easily without touching it. mine can be left 3 months in summer if needs be. so there is something going on .
check for current draw and pull main fuses ( initially) if you find anything approaching 200 ma or above.
as mentioned check all lights .aftermarket stereos or accesories. etc
-
Had to pull the interior light fuse on mine to fix the same problem, the fuse does other things too and this cured mine.
-
mine was eventually traced to the blue wire entering the drivers door multiplug. left it disconnected. everything still working fine . it may be for an option that mine doesnt have ?
-
If thine fuse offends thee..... Pluck it out!

Been looking through the guides for the fuse box layout (2.2 CD Auto) but for some reason cant find it. Seen it before, but then I am having my eyes tested tomorrow

I thought the same a few times ::)
hope it stays working for you ,but a few people have had the same issue

My 3L has the same problem re-speedo/rev counter "cures" itself for a short while then back to not working, when I can be bothered to get round to it I'll have to see about getting another set of clocks.

Combination of damp and minimal use.
Use it more and drive it further when you do. ;)
