Seems a shame to break such an unusual car , with a bit of work it could be OK ?

would be a shame for it to be broken for the engine etc
I've watched all his videos ,interesting stuff :)

Erm...... no, there aren't. Depending on your glass half full vs half empty outlook will determin if it's a good/bad thing. :D
I miss my 1993 2.6 Carlton Diplomat. T'was a fine machine.

If only old Vauxhalls fetched what rusty old Fords do :(
Carltons drove well ,great cars , I had 4 over 20 years ,swapping to the Omega a couple of years ago .
got more for my carlton than i paid for the 10 years newer Omega though :)

It might have felt like a fine machine, but not compared to a modern, similar car. Nostalgia, it's blah, blah....

In context, the chap did drive to it in a Mk3 Cavalier... :D
I can see why he thought the mildew coated interior was an improvement.

Nowt wrong with a Mk 3 Cav (16v Xe ) or Carlton ,both drive and handle well even by todays standards.
he has a very low mile 30k ish Omega manual V6 estate too 8)
Interesting youtube channel ,far more interesting than some of the youtube links that get posted on the OOF :D

You have a very different experience of mk3 Cavaliers to me :o
my mother's 1.6 was OK, but not as good to drive as the mk2 that it replaced.
my boss's XE engined company car was utterly terrifying.

I've had 2 MkIII Cavaliers, 2nd of which was a 1994 2.0 Diplomat (8v) with galactic mileage. I found the Cavalier infinitely better than the nearly new 1999 Vectra 2.0 CDX that replaced it... :-\

1.6 is fine in a MK 3 astra ,but a cav no :P
I had a couple of MK2 cavs , 1.8 poverty spec in a fetching shade of banana yellow and a 2L auto CD in gay gold,
I much preferred driving them to the newer modern (at the time) stuff . I worked for a lease company and drove pretty much every model of car at the time . including lots of MK 3 cavs ,which i liked driving (not just moving from A to B)
Vectra Bs where OK, had one but gave it to my brother as his need was greater , and the large boot and comfy drive of RWD carltons had more appeal.(20 years worth as a daily driver)
I do drive modern stuff quite often ,much prefer DRIVING 90s to 2000s rusty Vauxhalls ;D
can't think of a single new car i'd want to be driving rather than my CDX , but then I am a wierdo ;D :D before anyone else says it :)

The Cesaro caused a bit of a stir when they released it iirc :D

they are begginning to. there are a few mantas that have sold for well over £10000 and there is only for sale at the moment with very low mileage for around £45000. yes £45000
sure thats way high but they are going up.

The chap who runs that channel used to be the editor of Total Vauxhall IIRC. He's a knowledgeable chap and passionate about older Vauxhalls, especially red top's.

Opti has a classic sigmund and a classic corsa. Must be worth thousands.
