Hats off to Navalny. Cojones of steel. I wonder what else his entourage will expose.

I'm surprised he had any money left after helping his people thrive. ::)

I'm surprised he had any money left after Grace's weekly shopping trips to Paris. ::)
Fixed :y That woman was the ONLY reason the Air Zimbabwe Harare/Gatwick flight stopped at Paris. And why it was always late... ::)

Surely you’re joking?

Nope.
They used to bounce Z-WPE and WPF back and forth almost every day until one of them broke. Then it dropped to a couple of flights a week. The last time I had the pleasure was the second half of 2006. I don't know if they stayed at Gatwick or if they moved to Heathrow after that, but they were probably losing out to Emirates once they started the A380 network.
Typical African airline though, they paid their landing fees and fuel in cash. Surprisingly it wasn't too bad to clean apart from the bins in the aft galley. Some of the crew were ok, but you could tell when Grace was flying on it bevause the Purser was a properly obnoxious bitch, and the entourage used to wait on the plane and on special occasions, the middle seats in First Class were replaced with a bed.
On good days it was fine, and on bad days they wouldn't let the passengers off or open the holds until they had paid...
Either the station manager paid from a briefcase or the first thing off was an evelope ;D

It's a different world out there :D
I don't think it's exclusively an Zimbabwe thing rather than. An African thing... That said South African Airways was always pretty decent to deal with, as was Kenyan, but Ghana had their moments and Das Air Cargo used to be a bit sketchy. Z
However, Zim was up there with MedView (a now banned Nigerian outfit... Sketchy as you'd expect, and even though Virgin Nigeria (basically a Virgin Atlantic A340 with Virgin flight deck and Upper Class crew with Nigerian crew for the rabble and green instead of red) tried to put a brave face on it, they didn't last long either,
You can tell how dodgy a place is by the fact that all the Airport operations are daytime only, even if it means leaving at 11pm...for example Port Harcourt is reputed not to have any runway lights because they keep being stolen, so can't reliably operate after dark. Any country whose airlines are banned from the US or Europe is another pretty strong indicator. :-X
