Are they wrong?
Think carefully.
And properly, rather than using your feelings as facts.
-
Yes, and if you watch Mayhir Tousi's piece he explains why. With facts and logic :y

Bottom line is - we put our towels down 3 months before they did. They should know the rules. :D

I bet you can at the moment :D
Prisons minister Lucy Frazer said The UK will aid neighbouring nations with their vaccine supplies "where it can"
We need to stand up for ourselves now, balls to the EU until we've got our own people sorted
And we need to be re-ordering vaccines for winter ,IF the current ones last that long ::)
-
The contract has now been published here
https://ec.europa.eu/commission/presscorner/detail/en/ip_21_302
Two key points stand out. AZ’s commitment is to use best reasonable efforts and the commitment is to manufacture the initial doses within the EU.
I think this reveals the EU’s claims for our vaccine to be groundless.

Spot on Rangie! but I fear there are loadsa remainers/lefties who will insist that we do offer the vaccines to the world neighboring nations before we all are fully vaccinated. :-\ :-\

Not remainers, but plenty who believe we should give all ours to the corrupt African nations so they can be vaccinated before the rich West.
-
Oooo that’s next no doubt...,,,,
-
It's part of the international vaccine agreements to give poor countries vaccines
The UK has probably given loads away already
such information is kept on the QT to stop the politicians being lynched by joe public

Section 5.4 Manufacturing Sites AstraZeneca shall use its Best Reasonable Efforts to manufacture the Vaccine at manufacturing sites located within the EU (which, for the purposes of this Section 5.4 only shall include the United Kingdom) and may manufacture the Vaccine in non-EU facilities, if appropriate, to accelerate supply of the Vaccine in Europe.... It goes on... and on.... but I think this is the relevant part.
I can see this ending up in the courts to see whose contract with AstraZeneca takes precedence, the EU or UK. It's been reported that there is a clause in the UK's contract that stipulates that AstraZeneca must fulfil the UK's order from UK manufacturing sites before supplying anywhere else and of course the UK/AstraZeneca contract was signed three months before the EU/AstaZeneca contract.
I wonder if the EU Commission bothered to tell the British Government about this clause or even ask whether it was OK to consider the UK part of the EU for the purposes of this contract? ::)

Which courts? Certainly not any European court and, I'm sure not any British court.

Good point. The ECJ has no jurisdiction in the UK, and their contract probably stipulates that it is governed under EU law. Unless..... there is a sneaky provision buried in there somewhere that it can be tried under English law as well. I wouldn't put it past them. ::)
In other news, the EU Commission has today invoked Article 16 of the Northern Ireland Protocol restricting the movement of vaccine between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, a move Arlene Foster has described as " an incredible act of hostility " It's kinda technical I guess as NI gets it's vaccine from the UK, and given it's shortage of vaccine it's laughable that the EU are worried that NI might be used as a backdoor to supply the rest of the UK. Unless they plan a blockade of course... ::)
It seems that the EU comission are becoming increasingly unhinged... and what about the Good Friday Agreement? ???

-
No deal was always the best outcome, but too late now.
-
The EU have invoked article 16, meaning that they've effectively placed a border between Northern and Southern Ireland with regards to the vaccine. Popcorn time.
-
Where's Albs when you need him?
-
If they don't put-up and shut-up, why don't we just declare war? ;D
Last time I looked at a map, our closest EU neighbours are Ireland and France...... a single infantry unit could take those within a few hours.
-
Mmmm, I wonder how the NATO Organisation treaty would work that lot out👀👀👀
-
But of course very petty, pulling NI Into this, when will we ever be totally free from these despotic bastards

Hmmm.....it was French missiles that almost cost us the falklands war.

Albs is here! The swear filter will explode ;D

So... in a confrontation with EU what’s the rules?..

Too complicated, that's what.

Where's Albs when you need him?
Someone mention my name ? :D
Dont know where to start with this one tbh. Its so ludicrous, you couldnt make it up.
For nearly 5 years most of the EU,s negotiating position centred around preventing the apparent catastrophe of a hard border in Ireland
They need to ensure this could never happen under any circumstances.
A few weeks after signing the agreement, they have done just that. ;D
I think it shows utter desperation. Joe public in the member states are deeply unhappy about the fact that the little insignificant rock off their coast is vaccinating millions of people, but their masters in Brussels formed committees and sub committees and discussed matters before signing an agreement 3 months after the UK.
Now theyve found the production facilities on the mainland cant possibly keep up with demand, and the much hoped for French vaccine doesnt work, they have demanded the right to have them sent over from the UK, just like a retarded playground bully would do.
When the UK says "far cough", they lose the plot completely. To the point where pro EU. remainer parties in Norn Irn arent even bothering to attempt to defend them. Even the Labour party are issuing weakly worded condemnation.
They are showing themselves up for the utterly inept protectionist bullies some of us knew they were for a long time.
They are perfectly at ease with literally playing politics with innocent peoples lives, to try and salvage their own careers and reputations, as well as chucking out part of an agreement they argued long and hard for and signed a few short weeks ago.
I hope they get so pissed off that they build a fickin big wall along the Irish border. ;D
Anyone want to rerun the Brexit referendum next week ? ;D
-
Could be interesting, to say the least!👀

I would agree👍 The bloody bastards are showing their colour now. I reckon some of the remainers will change suit👍

Sorry, Tigger, I was repeating something you'd already posted. But, in regards to court action, I doubt the UK will be very bothered. The actual rest of the world has told us to return Chagos to Mauritius several times now, but we haven't.

The actual rest of the world except the US, which (up until recently) trumped (excuse the pun) all the others.

Like Gibraltar , Diego Garcia is far too important militarily to take into account the valid legit concerns of the locals.

Apart from the possible cost of innocent lives, I find it hilarious. Imo it can only be explained by desperation.
It will be interesting to see how our lot fare in this game of chess. If they play it clever, they could gain an advantage. Particulalry in the eyes of the watching world, most of whom seemed a bit baffled by Brexit.
The only thing Sleepy Joe seems to understand about Brexit is that the GFA is good and needs to be protected, and the Brits can never have a border in Ireland.
Now the EU have just introduced one, I wonder what he will make of it. ::)
More to the point, when can we start bombing French France ? :y ;D.............and give those Geymans some as well, just to remind them. ;D
-
What locals? ;D
Diego Garcia is to the Americans what South Georgia is to us... An previously un inhabited atoll with a runway and a jetty ::)

Yes my dear friend , I smiled wryly when I read the media reports .
And that squeak Varadkar threatend the return of the bomb and the bullet if the UK introduced a hard border.
Oh the irony ... ;D
-
Indeed. The flaw in his argument was that he assumed the only possible angry terrorists would only come from his own side.
He conveniently forgot about the other bunch of eejits who are capable of doing the same for all the opposite reasons. ::)
I found his / the EU comments on that sick tbh. >:(

Hmmm.....it was French missiles that almost cost us the falklands war.

French missiles yes. Fired by the French , no. ::)
I seem to remember some prominent Frenchman declaring it was a great day for France when an Exocet sunk a British ship. >:(
As I said in the joke thread last week - How many Frenchmen would it take to defend Paris ? No-one knows. Its never been tried. :D

The Mauritians have said the yanks can stay, but I digress.

Not true. It's uninhabited because we kicked all the locals off.

Well, what can you do? It's a nice runway...

Take off?

Land?

Take off?
No, we're staying. ;D

Put?
