Title: Auto-box faults & lights flashing
Post by: dave the builder on 13 February 2021, 21:41:42
Not Mine , an old school pal phoned me up ,but 2.6 V6 auto CDX so post 2000 ,not sure exact year .
not looked at the car ,he says it goes into like limp mode ,especially when in sport mode and the selector lights flash
turning it off and on again resets the fault temporarily  :-\
I've heard of this but can't find the info on the OOF  :-[

Is it clean and adjust the selector as per this guide
Auto gearbox selector switch removal and cleaning   (http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90673.0)

Obviously I can check the ATF fluid level and read all the Modules for codes too  :)
anything else ?

Thanks in advance  :)

All lights flashing, or in any way not following the gearstick, indicate the switch needs lovin'

(a remote possibility it could be loom or TCM, but that is really, really remote)

Mine needed totally new one as two of those thin metal leads were broken. Those "printed cards" maybe cannot be bought.

Thanks for the information  :)
I ran the Reg and checked the MOT :

suspension components corroded
Brake pipe corroded, covered in grease or other material (1.1.11 (c))
Suspension component mounting prescribed area is corroded but not considered excessive
oil leak

that was April 2019  :o it won't have improved any in 22 months

I said get it looked at and a price for welding but he'd be better off finding a car WITH MOT
and unless he's really sure he wants an Omega ,find something else  :D

it got a covid 19 MOT extension and been off the road since mid October 2020
needs 2 tyres at least ,all 4 lambda  sensors showing a fault EML on (can of worms there alone)
he's emailed to say the sump plug thread is stripped and how much is a sump  ::)
washer pump needs replacing , those are the faults i know about  :-X

I'd be looking for a car with MOT and use the one he has as a parts car

What a list... good to keep for spares anyhow.

I studied this selector case a bit more, those cards might be available somewhere, found from Russia "Opel Omega Club" -pages one article having a card which seems to be soldered there afterwards as a spare. It has nice copper leads. Problem is that I do not understand this language. Price of new original selector in Germany is 450 euro so repairing those would be a solution. Changing the card is simple, just solder 5 leads.

I think the site talks of re printing the PCB to replace the worn or damaged tracks .
quite a specialised process .
some very helpful pictures from you polilara and also on the RU site for future reference though  :)
