Been hearing a lot about this series my son who is in the Police thinks it's not bad my son in law thinks it's great and my daughter can't make head nor tail of it ! Watched two episodes this afternoon and I'm hooked, something to brighten up Sunday evenings along with a pint.

Have you been making notes to be able to keep up and understand the acronyms? ;D
( reference to Gogglebox).
All the series have been first class and some story lines continue through the various series.

Yes a great run of series, and the latest does not disappoint :y
We are just waiting to find out who “H” is! ;)

I'm totally bored with it now. I stupidly expect these programmes to bear some resemblance to actual real life but, apparently, that's far too much to ask.

Same here. I think its now trying to be clever just for the sake of it, and the acting / plots / characters I dont find believable any more.
The exception being Adrian Dunbar who is a superb actor.
The Scottish woman who is supposed to be a senior police officer is a terrible piece of miscasting imo.

They tried that. 5 minutes into episode 1 they arrested the first suspect. The remainder of the season was three of them sitting around filling out paperwork.
It didn't catch on. ;D

I am guessing you dont enjoy mission impossible, james bond films either. Hardly any entertainment bears resemblance to real life. That is the point. If you want real life try documentaries !

I'm a big Game Of Thrones and Star Wars fan. So true to life ::)
Not watched any Line of Duty, yet. It kind of passed me by, but I fully intend doing the box set or whatever.

Not too bad with the acronyms , good to see some realistic action plots too.

Opti, you don't give up do you.
The Stephen Lawrence incident happened way back in 1993. A public inquiry in 1998, headed by Sir William Macpherson, investigated the original Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) investigation and came to the conclusion that the force was institutionally racist. This is not disputed. The Metropolitan Police did suffer from internal racialism and then worked hard to correct that situation. Of course not ALL police are racist, but too many were back then, and some still exist now. Police forces are very conscious of that and are still working on "Diversity" with training.
So why bring the issue up yet again? ::) ::) ::)

Why keep biting? ::)

Why keep biting? ::)
Because racists need to be challenged as they go on and on and on if not.......................... ::) ::) ;)
It is about time everyone got to live in the 21st century in Britain. 8) 8)

I am watching this series, and the incident in the last episode certainly bore a strong similarity to the Lawrence case, so it was certainly implying racism in the police at the time of the incident, which may or may not have been in period with Lawrence. Does that mean the programme was 'playing the race card'? Hmmm, I don't think so, merely highlighting the 'institutional racism' inherent in the police at the time.(Macpherson report 1999) Let us hope this is no longer the case. :-\

Yes....agreed. The people who see racism at every turn agreed with this independent report 100%.....and probably rightly so at that time.
Yet, strangely, the most recent independent (2021) report is dismissed as 'whitewash' by the very same people. Some people 'need' for there to be racial conflict. Keir Starmer, Dawn Butler, Diane Abbott, David Lammy. All were bitterly disappointed rather than elated when the new report surfaced.

The case in Line of duty was obviously based on the Stephen Larence case. There was something similar in last weks episode based on a historic case, although I cant remember what it was just now.
I see James Nesbitt is joining the cast next week, so it will be a double helping of Ulster lingo.
Mother of God. ;D
