Title: Motorpoint.
Post by: Rangie on 07 June 2021, 18:31:54
SWMBO is still mentioning "The cute Toyota Aygo" so checked motorpoint out, a few on there between 7-8k had the Subaru valued by them £1450 not bad for an 05 plate which I paid £2800 for 4 years ago but I would probably sell it privately for £2000 full history garaged from new totally immaculate , the Aygos have between 7-14,000 miles on the clock , I may go & have a browse with her.

That's got to be easily worth two grand, and definitely worth more than the derisory offer from the dealer.

Toyota Aygo is a bean can in comparison to a Subaru  ???

I'm loathed to let it go really it's never had a repair of any kind , only service items & still drives like a new car.

Go on autotrader and find another at that price, Mick, I doubt you will. Have you put the reg into we buy any car?

I can't find another automatic at that age anywhere in the country. Only two autos, both 59 reg and both more than five grand.

I did but as it's on her private plate it won't accept it, on eBay dealers are selling them with mega miles for around 3-4k.

I'm in pretty much the same position with my astra. Can't be arsed with private buyers and dealers will give me next to f**k all because they just don't want a seven year old diesel estate. So I'm keeping it, it drives great and 45mpg and is also auto, which I prefer.
I pity you, Mick, once they get it into their pretty little heads, you've had it.

I've told her we need to wait until we get a smaller dog , if the Range Rover lets us down at least we can use the Subaru to take him out , he's too big & heavy to lift in & out of an Aygo , whether I get away with this remains to be seen.

It gives you some idea of whether the dealer is taking the piss on trade in value. But, let's face it, older fossil fuel powered cars are not on the wanted list at the moment, not from dealers anyway.

if the aygo has the 1.0 litre power unit then its pretty tough - tried and tested.  if it is the 1.2 PSA puretech unit then it has a wet timing belt and although they may have sorted the issues now there were problems with the belts early on

watch out for clutch adjustment - the cable is not auto adjusted and can cause a bit of wear too but the clutch issues of the early versions has been sorted out

Is there no where you can park/store the Subaru, in case it's needed at a later date? You know you're gonna have to give in on the aygo and, if you do it now, it will save months of hints and sulks.

WBAC are a division of British Car Auctions which is where most of the cars WBAC buy end up.

So if they are making good profits selling their cars in the auctions you know that their offers are shit!  ::)

It was enjoying it's retirement pootling round Torquay, but I see that the MOT wasn't renewed on the 31st May so the old girl might have popped her clogs!  :'(
