Heartbreaking :'(

Can't imagine how that child must have suffered.
-
She only gets 9 years for that??? Can the prison staff "forget" to give her food/drink/any kind of care? There really should be some way to make such people suffer.
-
Looks like she has previous form for abandonment of her nipper. :-X

Cue a serious case review, where 'lessons will be learned'. ::)

There's definitely an argument for reintroducing capital punishment.
That said, an 18 year old single mother living by herself, and already in council care, she wasn't singularly responsible. This is not an excuse or sympathy for what she did... punishment should serve as a deterrent to others, although what she did is universally deemed unacceptable.
However, the father and local authority are as guilty as she is, and whilst she probably couldn't even name the father, the local authority and its staff should be made to carry some of the responsibility.
I suspect that this is why she received 9 years. Some digging may find that the LA haven't got away scott free.

I kind of see your points but ..... most normal people would think twice before they left a 20 month child to nip next door. Apart form the obvious starvation & nappy rash/etc, the poor child must've wondered where her Mum was when it came to bed time & meal times.

A tear starts, unbidden, to the eye.....

There was another story the other day about a couple who beat their 3 year old girl to death. :(
They were charged with manslaughter..... >:(
-
If not the death penalty, this women should be imprisoned for at least 25 years - she apparently will spend just 6 years of her current sentence inside - to reflect what a terrible thing she did and the suffering of that poor, poor, child. :'( :'( :'(
Hopefully whilst inside she will be duly dealt with by the women she will find there! >:( >:( >:(
Yes, also the authorities have got real questions to answer. >:( >:(

Unfortunately Lizzie the odds are she will be segregated whilst in prison for her own protection, and because the way the UK operates be given a new identity on her release. Completely wrong but as the "do gooders" say " she has rights".
-
Her child also had "rights" where were the do-gooders then? To me the mother lost all "rights" when she abandoned her child to go out partying for days on end.*
*I'm not saying you're in any way sticking up for the mother Rangie,in fact I'm sure you're not and are merely pointing out the way the system works.

In no way am I sticking up for her ,I am a retired Prison Officer & know exactly how these people are treated.

The part that p!sses me off about cases like this is the stance social services have on people like her.
A number of years ago, my then wife and I looked seriously into adoption, and the number of hoops we had to jump through was unbelievable. Legal, financial, childcare experience, the process was interminable. I honestly don't object to that, because I think people who have children should be responsible for them (a novel concept to my generation it seems).
The flip side of this coin is that social services seem to do everything they can to avoid taking children away from the most useless, breakless, slovenly or frankly dangerous people. This scumbag is just such a case in point. How can someone with a 'history of abandonment' and not even a place to live be deemed fit to keep looking after a child?!
I sincerely hope Head roll over this, but I bloody doubt it. >:(

Would you be opposed to sterilisation? If only to appease the leftists and expand the voter base... Or would that be considered selling out?

Way to liberal to go in my manifesto.

Fair enough. I was thinking that it might prevent a repeat of the whole sorry mess in 9 6years time.

Swing the bitch on the end of a rope. I will pay good money to be allowed to pull the lever.
If she didnt want to be a responsible parent (rather than have a kid to get a flat and benefits) she could have had the poor little mite adopted by a childless couple who cant have kids, who would have given it a loving home. :'(
While we treat scum like this with kid gloves and blame society etc. etc. it will just keep happening. >:(
Bring back hanging. :y :y

Agreed 100%, Albs! :y

I wonder how much this particular specimen will cost the public purse over it's lifetime?
