This is a different issue to the lack of working glowplugs ;D
When parked uphill overnight, it tends to die a few seconds after starting, and makes it a right pig to start again. Parked downhill, its much better :).
I'm thinking leak off pipes, but a quick glance, the *look* ok. Would I see diesel around them if they leaked?
-
They tend to let air in rather than diesel out, classic symptoms though !!

Ah, right, understood.
Is it worth replacing the T pieces, or inspect them first before spending £25 on a set (genuine, as cant find any specs to get pattern).
As to the pipework, https://www.amazon.co.uk/Pearl-PDP03-Diesel-Vauxhall-Vectra/dp/B006I53DF0/ref=cm_cr_arp_d_pl_foot_top?ie=UTF8 looks cheap and nasty at under £4 delivered, or the genuine GM is £16 https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284044184883?epid=13020061735&hash=item42225a4d33:g:OFcAAOSwtsNfhazf ?

Yep as Henry said you've got air getting in and the diesels draining back. :y
I had exact same symptoms on the Mondeo a few years ago after the local garage serviced it. Turned out they hadn't reconnected one of the fuel pipes into the fuel filter properly. ::)
Thinking about it I had the same on an old Merc C250TD workhorse I had as well. IIRC I followed Mr DTM's favourite methodology of randomly changing parts (fuel pipes and joints) until I solved the problem. ;D

The amazon one:
"Honestly the cheapest looking hose I've ever seen. It's 1/3rd the wall thickness you get with OEM hoses or ones purchased from the likes of Halfords or Euro Car Parts"
-
I had noted that on the reviews ;D

What could possibly go wrong...........

What could possibly go wrong...........
I suppose the cheap option would prove it. As it seems to be difficult to prove it is the leak-offs, last changed by that DTM fella about 5 years ago when he sorted the intakes.
That said, it looks like the bulk of the cost is in 3 t pieces needed.

Why would you want to do the job twice though?

I agree on that principle - although it looks to be a quick and easy job on it.
But you are the one who is always suggesting not using genuine parts (which are generally of a known good quality) ;)

Can you still get parts for a car that old? :D
Its younger than all but the last of the Omegas ;)
-
Can you still get parts for a car that old? :D
they don't need parts very often
much like astra G , cheap to run , no resale value though
-
3.2mm internal diameter according to this thread.

If you're still feeling too tight to cough for VX originals.

I just misread the thread title as Battlebus (Northstar)... ::)
And then thought. "That could be an interesting project"
The torquesteer would put a Zaf VXR to shame ;D
-
the Zafira's only plus point is it's reliable
putting a norhstar in one would rob it of that one saving grace :D
I really wouldn't want to go fast in a Zafira :o
have you started that wall yet I want something to render😂
don't forget the broken glass bottles embedded in mortar on the top Rae, old school style anti climb ,saves buying coping stones 8)

Burglars can sue you if they get injured. It's the law. :)

Only if you let them live... Although I presume that's also on the illegal side of questionable choices :-X

There are parts that I'll use genuine for preference. But basic parts like gaskets, plugs, oil, filters, belts, brakes, radiators, exhausts, shocks, arms etc are chosen by how well they fit a mental cost/convenience/quality/hassle-to-fit Venn diagram. Remember, I'm not hard on things; 25k miles on budget tyres, 50k on the brakes, 25mpg average fuel economy etc with an Omega, and my other cars have lasted similarly. So for me, genuine is rarely worth any extra.
There are things I won't buy based on experience, like Denso plugs or Intermotor ignition parts. I prefer current stock to NOS for older cars too, especially for anything with rubber components. I've had too many fail in too short a time.
Leak off pipes are a common part that I would buy over the counter from a trade/industrial supplier. I can see several of them on the industrial estate that is a mile from my house - although I do have to go further than that as it's the other side of the river - or from the diesel fuel pump reconditioner that's about 1/2mile away.
-
For Brakkers, actually going to a motor factor means a 25 - 30 miles round trip minimum. So its generally online, or online ;)

No codes present. Did have a FPR code but thats gone since I changed the fuel filter, as has its tendency to throw up the stop engine light and go into limp mode after 5 minutes at motorway speed.
I changed the cambelt not long ago, so shall revisit that and check timing first - then burn the little bastid. ;D
-
Did this behaviour start with the filter change ?
Is the filter housing cracked?
-
No it predates that.

😂
