Some forum members may remember that my telephone was disconnected for 27 days, until "the little people came in the dead of night and reconnected it"
Anyway, I get another letter from BT today.....We apologise, blah, blah, blah. Cannot give you a temporary connection, blah, blah, blah, due to H&S considerations, blah, blah, blah.
Now I don't want to tell thm that its been reconnected by the "little people", incase BT have a fit of Health & Safety mania, and disconnect it again.
But, my question is this, The phone has now been connected 2 weeks, how do they not know this??? :-* :-*

Could be right Danny, when you speak to them on the telephone they haven't a clue what's going on :-*

I usually find that the people who answer the phones (usually from Mumbai) have no idea what's been arranged on-line. They seem to either duplicate letters or send a completely different one.

They know there is an issue with the line - their own people have seen that.
Now, your bodge may also be incorrectly done, and adding a line fault to it.

Whilst you may have a dial tone, and be able to make/receive calls, but that does not mean there is not a fault with the bodge, and that fault may or may not be playing havoc with BT's equipment.
I'm glad its working for you, but its another reason for why they may think there is still a problem.

Maybe it was fixed by real "little people" (of the fairy dust variety) and not BT little people ( of the angel dust variety). :D

Indeed with BT anything is possible!
A friend in London had in their flat a telephone that BT refuse to accept exists, even though it has a BT number and it was connected with them as old bills exist to prove it, but had no dialling tone. :-? :-?
Anyway three weeks ago, when I was there, the 'dead', "non-existant" phone suddenly rang with a sales call.............since then calls, including ones to Australia have been made, but BT still deny the lines ::) ::) ::) ::) existance!!
So Dusty eventually BT may discover you are in fact connected, but until then it could be free phone call time!! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;)

TB I gave BT every opportunity to fix the line. I gave them 27 days to do a 10 minute repair. To this day I still do not know when a permanent repair will be done.
I did what I had to do to get the phone working. And I would do it again if I had to.
By the way BT have charged me for call divert for the 27 days, even though they said it was going to be free.
The line down was a minor inconvenience made into a major headache by BT. :-* :-*

BT seem to find it difficult to keep track of anything :D :D :-*

I don't care how/why your phone is now working. Just because I used to work for them doesn't mean I'm going to grass you up or anything. I was simply giving a possible reason why they may still think the line is faulty, nought more.

I know I mentioned it.... ...its also why I know their procedures for dealing, and what the likely problems were that caused the delay.
Where abouts do you live, I may have some contacts?
