I know the scrappies at Ludgershall, and I have a trailer... I also have time on my side .. so if I can be of any help at all just yell - Fuel costs only and on LPG they are 40% of everyone else !!!

This is a serious offer not a wind up ...

Ludgershall is just North of Andover on the A342

Trailer is 5 ft long, 3 ft wide... should be able to stand a bonnet in that with some padding around it ... trailer lid comes right off so thats not a problem.

When will they be ready for pickup ??? I'm doing very little for the next 2 weeks and should be able to do a run for you most any time.

Surely the easiest and safest way to transport a bonnet would be to take the car there, unbolt the old one (4 bolts, IIRC) and fit the new one there and then?

Sounds good .. but I think Martin has a few legality problems in driving with no wing, bumper or lights on one side !!!!

and his present bonnet probably won't close .....

Actually more complex than that.

It is on the road but missing the bumper

Bonnet will open close, but before straightening a new one will not, and vise versa.

Hans - who has done me a decent price will pull with old panels and then fit new ones to check lineup - so 20mph drive on roofrack to work one day!

Just be careful about the legality of driving without a bumper - I fell foul of that whilst waiting for lease company to pick up her car that had been rear ended - they said the mounting brackets were dangerous of something...

If you book in advance, car transport is not expensive.. and would save you the worry of getting pulled over...

Dont know the legality issues in UK but a car without a bumper will have big mass of air under the bonnet and can turn  up easily ..

But how much of a mess would it make of a pedestrian/cyclist/biker/horse if a bump was to occur.

Might be worth a quick call to Traffic to see what they say?

I think  ::) that it has to be able to meet MOT standard and that's about it. Could be wrong though!
