Which is a shame. (https://youtu.be/KYScakP1yqo)
Putin is that spoilt brat that shits in the pool when it's time to get out...

Video not available.
But quite a few stories being posted.
From Russions overtakeing the airport or destrying it.
AN-225 destroyed.
Maybe this story is true and the Russians maybe be taken control since.

Still watchable on Youtu.be, but looks like the link has been corrupted :-\
Reading that, there's nothing untoward about any of that. Presumably it is kept undercover when not in use. The video shows a missile guidance video of the explosion as a missile hit the hangar.
Certainly, it hasn't flown in the last week. I would suspect that it is on the ground more often than flying under normal situations.
Don't know why they didn't move it though... :-\

It last flew on Feb 5th, and since returning to it's home base at Hostomel apparently had a couple of engines removed for servicing. So it wasn't airworthy enough to be evacuated out of country.
-
Unfortunate timing then :-\

There was a report in the Mail yesterday about this and the Ukrainians have said that they will repair it, but it will cost $3bn! :o

At $30,000 an hour for the basic rental, there's an incentive to keep it operational... It probably brings in $500,000 every day it is booked.

There is a second one that was never completed, and has sat in a hangar for the past 20 odd years. Trouble is, that hangar is also at Hostomel, (which is the Antonov factory) so it's possible it has also been destroyed or damaged beyond repair.

An insight into having to fly around Canada (and EU) to get from the Dominican Republic to Moscow.
"Aeroflot 157, are you aware of the NOTAM?"
"...." :D
They've already cancelled this weeks flight... And if Demark decides that their airspace is closed as well, then that will pretty much shut down Russian air access to the Northern Atlantic.

I don't think that will buff out :-\

Wings look surprisingly intact :-\

Looking at it, and the fact the tail seems in tact, its possible only the nose to the wing roots was destroyed by the fire. Not that the rest of the airframe will be of much use with the heat its been subjected to :(
-
Depends which alloy composites it's made of, but it's definitely been heat soaked...
-
Wings might go again on the unfinished one, although no idea where that one is ???
